To bad ya just cant play one album per day in its intirety, but I know thats not possable now days.. But its nice to dream once and awhile though. They did that around here years ago during the lunch hour+.... Billed as "featured artist of the week" Jim

While working in a recording studio, we did alot of demos for cover bands, and I have heard so many mis-interps of lyrics, I could never begin to recall them all. But heres a few that come to mind: Steppinwolf "Born to be wild" - Get your motor runnin, head out on the highway. Sung as- " Hitchen on a runnin, dead out on the highway " Stones "Jumpin jack flash" - I was born inna crossfire hurrican. Sung as- " I was born in the trash by her train" There are many others. Got into work abit early today (sat). Nobody here yet, so I cranked up the radio (sirius) ch 16 "the vault", and they had just started to play the whole AP album "I Robot". Been a long time since I've heard some of those tunes. It was great, not to mention what a coincedence. Jim

Hey Jane, If the one that lucky just posted aint the one, give us alittle more to go on (anything). I found over 500 songs with those words used in them.. Some I know, but the way you describe this one dont ring a bell... If ya do get the title, but cant find the song let me know. I can probably get it. Jim Edit: PS/ I just found that lyric in one of "Creed's" songs from about that time line. Ya may want to check through they'er albums. Its called " I'm Falling Even More in Love with you"

Sweet Jane, I have two of the albums (both on vinyl, 8 track, and cassette). I robot, and Pyramid. Of those two, Pyramid is my fav. When that was first released my girlfriend and I (along with others) would sit in my car and blast that tape. One winters night we were parked in front of her apartment blasting the tape with windows rolled up and a neighbor across the street (on the 3rd floor) called the cops to complain about the loud music. (must of had his hearing aid turned up to high). Lucky for the two of us, we both worked as police dispatchers and knew all the cops, we were both 20 at the time and along with the loud music we also had about 30 empty beer cans on the floor in the back seat (drinking age in Pa has allways been 21)... Ah the good old days....lol Jim PS/ I know its a well known fact, but I didnt see it mentioned here that AP is also a fantasic audio engineer. As can be heard on the Beatles "Abbey Road", and Pink Floyd "Dark Side of the Moon".

I just read this entire thread (including the initial article in full). Now after all the posts that have been made seemed to wonder from one point to another, It seems that for the most part alot of you have gotten off the initial subject ( which was how the record industry treats the artist). What it comes down to, is the lable is out to make as big a profit as possable in the shortest period of time, at the very least initial investment. While at the same time retaining all rights to the material produced by the artist, along with full control over the artistic expression of the artist(s). They pull the strings, and if you dance the right way they just cut them, and away you fall ( with no chute ). Back in the 60's and 70's, certain bands had the power to dictate to the lables. They were the "super groups" IE, Led Zep, Pink Floyd, Yes, etc. Those bands pretty much wrote there own ticket. But the lables make sure that dosn't happen today. The big lables own (or atleast have a great deal of control) of most of the radio stations in the US. And pretty much call the shots as far as to what they want played, and when. I have been approached by these A/R clowns on several occasions years ago. I was lucky enough to be able to "liberate" copies of the aggrements and take them to a lawyer friend for review. Nothing was ever signed. They were written as if you would be obligated to turn your first born child over to them with no hope of recovery. I know thats a strange way to say it, but that how it was explained to me. I have played in bands, and worked in studios doing engineering and mix downs etc, for about 38 years. I have had several very talented singers do backup work for us, and helped them to copywright there own material before some big lable snake came along and sucked it up right out from underneath them. I just scanned through this whole thread and saw no mention of the Moody Blues/ the poetry from "Days of future past" or the spoken parts in (I believe) "In search of the lost chord". And moldy oldy that may not apply, " Moon flight" by Vic Venus.... Jim

For whatever its worth to all of you... I was a Police/Fire/Rescue dispatcher for about 5 yrs (1977 till about 82 or 83 (I forget)). I have heard it all. I have heard people being beatin, shot, and just drop the phones because of medical probs (IE heart attacks).. Its a very helpless feeling. And I'll be danmed if I would ever describe, or make any tapes of such things available to the public. When I did this job it was before 911 was invented, so we did the best with what we had to work with... I still have nightmares about that job sometimes, and that was a long time ago. Thats a very morbid request IMHO. Sorry to ramble, and I know my opinion does not not belong on this site.. But I just had to say something. Jim

That 70's song I thought of is by "The Flamming Ember" it anit even close to whats being described. We need more to go on.... IE: more lyrics, or artist (male or female) .. time line? Genre, etc.. Jim

Cant find that one either... The only song that comes to mind is : "Mind Body and Soul" from the early 70's. But I dont recall any line about a remote control... Jim

Hey Super Ry 71, I read that post some time ago, and would not even waste the time replying to such crap. But It's his opinion, and he's entitled to it. In my opinion if ya like what ya hear that's the way it should be. What reason would anyone have to disuade you from what you like, other than a monetary bonus from some music rag magazine they may work for, or just to try to force their personal opinion on everyone else. I say keep your opinions to yourself unless your asked..., and enjoy what you like. I dont know of any guide lines that say you can like this song, but not that one because of bla bla bla.... Sorry to get alittle off the wall but people like that *iss me off to no end. I dont crititize anything that anyone has to say here as I dont think it's right.. I may not like some bands or music, but I dont bad mouth any. I keep my opinion to myself, which is where it should stay unless questioned..

H&R is that you at about the 00:37 point in that u-tube clip? I remember that show from the news coverage back then, But I was abit to young to try to run off to see that one. I was only 12 when I ran off to woodstock, only to be almost beatin half to death by the old man when I got back home (lol). The good old days!
