  2. I have never bought the idea either that because a song is used in a commercial that it means the artist "sold out". I know many will disagree with me on that but music can be used for many things. It only makes sense to use good music to advertise products. I'm not saying every artist should just go out and sell their music to the highest advertiser bidder but I don't see it as a sell out to have music used in advertising that happenes to be from a popular artist.
  3. This from the artist who gave us "Don't Lose My Number".
  4. I don't really understand this whole "gone corperate" and "selling out" thing. Just because somebody plays at the Super Bowl they are a sell out? Yeah,if I were an artist,I would turn down the opportunity to perform live in front of 75,000 people and millions worldwide on TV. I don't have a problem with somebody making millions off their music. It's their god given gift to do whatever they want to with it. If they get rich off it,which many do,big deal. It's worse to have that kind of talent and not do anything at all with it.
  5. I think really good artists borrow a little from different genres of music to find "their sound". Whether it's blues, soul, jazz and yes, even country.
  6. A country group today that I really enjoy is Little Big Town. I have said before on here that their harmonies remind me somewhat of Fleetwood Mac. In fact, last year they did a show on CMT called Crossroads where they performed with Lindsey Buckingham doing several Fleetwood Mac songs. The sound they produced was amazing. Some Little Big Town songs to check out are "Boondocks","Bring It On Home","Good As Gone" and my favorite,"I'm With The Band". Good stuff.

  10. It was when George went up to Lorraine in the malt shop and said that line, instead of "destiny" as Marty had told him to. George was going to ask Lorraine to the big dance but Biff came in and ruined it all. Helloooo!!!...McFly!!!
  11. Well even though things are indeed a mess,I'm not quite ready for nuclear winter just yet. And you are right Peachy. It's time to rethink the Electoral College or maybe sh*t-can it entirely.

  14. There is a radio station near here that started playing Christmas music 24/7 the day after Thanksgiving. Those poor DJ's
  15. Sawyer Brown went on to have a pretty good career and they still tour. I saw them in concert twice in the early 90's and they put on a great show.
  16. Rosemary Clooney was from where I live and I actually got to hear her sing the song in person. Very nice lady.
  17. Just give me "White Christmas" by Bing Crosby.
  18. You can't talk about bluegrass music without mentioning the great Dr. Ralph Stanley. Check out his duo with Josh Turner,"Me And God".
  19. That would be my guess. No Beatles,Stones,Eagles,Fleetwood Mac but yet Evanescence at #3??...Gimme a break.
  20. One of the holiday traditions the wife and I have is to have some of our friends come over, have a few drinks, and watch "National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation" with Chevy Chase. Kind of a fun, unstressful way to kick off the usually stressful holiday season. So,that's what we did this past Saturday night. This movie is one of my all-time favorites and even though I have seen it hundreds of times,I still laugh like crazy. The humor of this movie fits me totally.I can recite just about every line although I try to refrain from doing so because that can be annoying. To me,this movie is a 10.
  21. "Cum On Feel The Noize" was a party anthem when it became popular way back then. I know because I partied hard to that song. He was a heck of a lead singer.
  22. There was a thread on here not long ago about sad songs and I posted that country music has always provided the best tear jerkers. I also mentioned in the thread that "He Stopped Loving Her Today" by George Jones may be the all time best tear jerker. And as far as good ole' boy country,I nominated this week for the top 10 the song that is one of the best. "A Country Boy Can Survive" by Hank Williams,Jr. Bocephus cornered the good ole' boy market a long time ago.
  23. Like any list of any kind, not everybody is going to agree. I don't really agree with this one either but for the most part,it's pretty good. Although I may ask,Meatloaf?? With two songs in the top 199???
  24. Yes Missouri rocks Lucky but if they lose to Oklahoma in the Big 12 championship game, their hopes of playing in the national title game is over. To me that's another thing that isn't quite right with this BCS system. Some conferences, like the Pac-10 and the Big-10 don't play a conference championship game, which means teams like Ohio State and USC are home waiting for some of these teams ahead of them in the BCS standings to lose so they can move up and get a better bowl bid and maybe even a chance to play for the national championship. Doesn't seem like all the conferences in the BCS are playing on a level playing field.
