  1. I am not very familiar with Halloween songs. The Tall One already beat me to my intended nomination of the Ghostbusters theme song. With more than two nominations allowed the best have already been taken I believe. I'm not sure how appropriate these are, but I'll go with (same title - two different songs) 1. Devil Woman - Cliff Richard 2. Devil Woman - Marty Robbins
  2. 1. Ben – Michael Jackson (MJ is not really my cup of tea, but I just luv this recording) 2. Bend Me, Shape Me – American Breed
  3. On my lista I've been highlighting my nominations which made the top ten adding the rankings thereon. That's about all I can manage / That's how realistic it can get at my end - juggling work and play.
  4. At the outset I thought the same of my S&G nomination of El Condor Pasa which missed the top ten by just two points. My votes would have been different and Hello-Goodbye may have made the top slot if I had known this Beatles's song earlier. I heard it for the first time only after the votes closed. Thanks to our dear Edna I am now richer in good music.
  5. VERY agreeable - speaking for myself of course.
  6. 1. El Condor Pasa - Simon & Garfunkel 2. Barbara Ann - The Beach Boys 3. Hit The Road Jack - Ray Charles 4. Are You Lonesome Tonight - Elvis Presley 5. I Got You Babe - Sonny And Cher 6. Running Scared - Roy Orbison 7. You Can’t Hurry Love – The Supremes 8. It's The Same Old Song - Four Tops 9. Hello Goodbye - The Beatles 10. No Son of Mine – Genesis
  7. In compiling this final voting round of this ultimate top ten I found myself being cruel to so many good songs. I also found that 3 of my votes went straight to the Beatles, so in order to be fair I replaced two Beatles songs with a couple of others. I can't tell you how hard it was to come up with : 1. All My Loving - The Beatles (1963) 2. Runaway - Del Shannon (1961) 3. California Dreamin' - The Mamas & The Papas (1966) 4. (Sittin' On) The Dock Of The Bay - Otis Redding (1968) 5. Whiter Shade Of Pale - Procol Harum (1967) 6. Bridge Over Troubled Water - Simon & Garfunkel (1970) 7. I Heard It Through The Grapevine - Marvin Gaye (1967) 8. Suspicious Minds - Elvis Presley (1969) 9. Good Vibrations - The Beach Boys (1966) 10. Georgia On My Mind - Ray Charles (1960)
  8. Thanks again Darryl ..., 1. Barbara Ann - The Beach Boys 2. El Condor Pasa - Simon & Garfunkel. ... and for your votes too !
  9. I had some 'jam' for breakfast this morning. Thank you both, Levis517 and FarinU
  10. I'm not sure if the exclusion clause of TT #33 applies here also, (I have the Beach Boys and Simon & Garfunkel in mind) so I'll just play safe and go with : 1. Groovy Kind of Love – Wayne Fontana 2. Guantanamera - Pete Seeger
  11. Recently a friend let me have some MP3 tracks one of which was Sonny & Cher's I got you Babe - luv it, you can count on my vote.
  12. Hi Edna, I am a great fan of the Beatles, but dont have very many of their recordings on CD. The bulk of it is on musicassettes which are attracting fungus in my home town. Yes, I do have "In My Life" and it will get my vote. Voting is gonna be tough. I try listening to 30 second clip samples of unknown songs available at cduniverse.com whenever I can steal time at my boss's laptop. These occasions however are few and far between, besides 30 seconds are just not good enough to appreciate a new song. Sometimes the lyrics start way past 30 seconds into the song.
  13. Sorry I don't have access to YouTube. You could of course sway my votes in your favour with MP3 versions of your nominations sent to aljudo44@hotmail.com (Hope I am not asking for too much) Levis, this post is directed to you first et al. Send some 'jam' to my mail box, would you please
  14. Some of us just don't listen when the wise Old 55 speaks - I'm talking of yours truly of course ! YEP, NEXT TIME.
  15. 1. Don't Go Breaking My Heart - Elton John & Kiki Dee 2. These Boots are made for Walking - Nancy Sinatra 3. Forever and Ever, Amen - Randy Travis 4. Only The Lonely - Roy Orbison 5. Stand By Me - Ben E. King 6. Red Red Wine - UB40 7. 9 to 5 - Dolly Parton 8. Sundown - Gordon Lightfoot 9. Another Day in Paradise - Phil Collins 10. Help Me Make It Through the Night - Kris Kristofferson And if its any consolation to the nominators of : 11. Every Breath You Take - The Police 12. Gimme Three Steps - Lynyrd Skynyrd 13. I Hear You Knocking - Dave Edmunds 14. Cherry Hill Park - Billy Joe Royal 15. Magic Bus - The Who 16. Behind Blue Eyes - The Who 17. I Can See for Miles - The Who 18. Time In A Bottle - Jim Croce 19. Me and Mrs Jones - Billy Paul
  16. Having a hard time short-listing and a harder time ranking. Please give me some more time to vote
  17. Another great song off my lista - Steel, you too get my vote
  18. When I nominated this one for TT # 25, it made the top twenty. I hope it does a lot better this time. Good luck Katie, you can count on my vote for this one.
  19. This one goes off my lista - you get my vote !!
  20. I think I'll lay off the oldies and put in a couple of 80's this time around. Just hope TT No.33 maintains its essence and does not become a topical TT.
  21. Thanks Edna, the graph is coming up shortly as soon I get it through to our Archivist, the one and only Farin.
