  1. Haha. I misread your title, Kevin, as Edna: She-Wolf Of The SF
  2. For corrupting the minds of young people I had it easy, though. Socrates had to drink hemlock, you know?
  3. You want action that makes you think? Try Total Recall. It is a brilliant action film that keeps you guessing right to the very end. I think it was fairly popular in its time... if I recall
  4. Just about every line Frank Booth had in Blue Velvet I doubt I could write any of them here...
  5. Yeah, like "illegal immigrants" and such... although there were protests about that recently I do agree with the term "illegal intercourse". It makes sense.
  6. Musical offenders? How about learning dance moves from video games like "Dance Dance Revolution"? Bah. It's not all doom and gloom, though. I may hate dancing, but it provides some entertainment.
  7. Now if they would only stop sounding like a poor man's Radiohead/Travis/Aqualung/Kent
  8. Unless you're Placebo. Then it counts to have high-pitched, whiny voice
  9. All "emo" music... inexplicably over-rated and popular. I'll also add most current Rap and R&B. No need to name names since I'd be listing here for hours.
  10. Like I wrote before, I mean the common use of the word, which defines it as using physical force. As for your other question, what does a fist fight have to do with two people having sex?
  11. I'm a little surprised that in a topic about album covers I haven't read members mention Peter Saville http://www.btinternet.com/~comme6/saville/ANTGALLERY1.htm The guy is a bona fide modern artist. I like his cover designs for the band Suede the best. I liked this one so much, I had the design copied and ironed onto a shirt:
  12. Best film composer of all time has to be Ennio Morricone, but there's a whole subset of European composers that get lost in the shuffle. I'd also have to give many kudos to Goblin for composing some of the coolest Prog-Rock scores for Eurohorror movies - half of the thrill is listening to those tunes.
  13. Gregory's Girl is one of my all-time favourites. There's also the Aussie film The Year My Voice Broke, which is very much like Lucas. I really go for those quotidian situations and "dramedies".
  14. Should we assume you possess no proof that females in such cases are repeat offenders?
  15. lolz One at a time, one at a time It is about common sense. The law is seldom black and white, which is why we have a very high per capita rate of lawyers willing to argue any and all points. Heck, just the fact that most women are not given prison sentences regarding these crimes is enough to side with what I am writing about... and what some of you are writing about as well. Anyway, the very basic biology can't be argued; prosecutors wouldn't have this case in an open court because they know a jury of 12 would not vote to convict unanimously. Yes, she has good genes, which make her attractive and he is a young teenage guy. That the chance came to him to have sex with her - willingly - is something that a lot of guys will not get past. Even with the knowledge that minors cannot give consent: Who, in their right mind, is gonna overlook that it was just a case of abuse of authority and power, but not one of physical/forceful abuse or rape or molestation? The root of the word "molest" is something like "bother"... who would be "bothered" by having sex with an attractive woman? Haha.
  16. As far as I know, people under 18 are allowed similar rights to adults depending on their circumstances here in the US. You wanna view this as if it was black and white, but it's not that simple. Also, erring on the side of caution is what makes our prison population one of the biggest in the world. Trust me when I say people like Debra are not the re-offending kind and her punishment is in excess. Show me the statistics of female sexual offenders that say they're liable to re-offend and I'll agree with you.
  17. Yeah, you do. I know much about wikipedia
  18. Well, the painting is definitely after. He was painting more moderate things as a young man
  19. I'm a bit surprised nobody has mentioned Soviet/Russian avant-garde, especially Constructivism. What with the rise of fame of Franz Ferdinand and their obvious cover art influence from Rodchenko's works. I liked that style before it became a fad to use in those cheezy "obey" posters that litter the streets of Los Angeles and San Diego. Thankfully, there is still Italian Futurism to be had. Every facet of that art movement is nothing short of magnificence... and, yes, the stories are true: They were Fascists. Okay, okay. Let's try another one. Before The Matrix was ever conceived, before there was Cubo-Futurismo, before there was Futurismo, before Cubismo even! There was Marcel Duchamp:
  20. Did I state what she did was right? Don't mince my words: I wrote something to the extent that the punishment far exceeds the crime, and, yes, there is a slight distinction between "child" and "teenager". That is why those words exist to define a person's stage in life, which gives the crime a different context. Well, there's that and the fact that she is a very attractive young woman and he is a teenage boy. She will have to register as a "sex offender" for the rest of her life - just like child rapists, producers and collectors of child pornography, and offenders with multiple offenses in their past. It shouldn't be a surprise, I suppose, as this country was founded by Puritans and they'd punish every offense with the same axe - the rejects of good ol' England. Think about it, this is a country which has no qualms giving adult prison sentences to people under 18 and, at the same time, view the people in this range as "children".
  21. I don't know this... "XXX" that you speak of
  22. I own all of Duran Duran's albums and their singles compilations So, it's not one of their songs. Both Bryan Adams and D2 have a distinctive sound. I think this song is sung by a lesser-known artist (or had less hits) and the lyrics are mostly that ("there is something going on..." - almost like that Frida song, except it's by a guy). Thanks for the suggestions, though.
