Time to isolate more people with calculus woes!
So, in AP Physics, we learn derivatives before we did in calculus so we could do instantaneous velocity and acceleration. Derivatives are, from what I know, a quick way to do find the slope of a curve at a point x that we're learning the long way first in calculus. But, in doing my calculus review packets, I get the right answer "cheating" and taking the derivative, while when I do all of the calculations out, I get the wrong answer.
Ugh.
TL;DR - I'm having #SmartPeopleProblems.

The Mighty Mighty Bosstones - "The Old School off the Bright"
We want the punks, the drunks,
The layabouts, the steady working joes
The white collars, the rednecks
And our blue blooded bros.
The jocks, the preps, the stoners
The homeless, and homeowners,
Every loser, boozer, drug abuser,
Sharpie and Two-Toner
-
On the bright side, you understand calculus.
We haven't even started actual calculus yet; we're in the "Prerequisites for Calculus" chapter.
But I'm probably going to start learning calc in Physics before Calculus...I think we're doing instantaneous velocity tomorrow, which involves limits.
I think I isolated just about everyone on this board...

Long Labor Day weekend!
Oh wait, I have Calculus homework and a paper to write for Physics.

Streetlight Manifesto - The Hands that Thieve
I felt no guilt until I was caught and I was told that I was guilty
And even then I wasn't really sure
Yeah, yeah
That the thing I felt was guilt itself
Or maybe it was something else
Frustration at the fact that I was ever caught at all
I told a lie that multiplied and by the time I realized it
I'd given up everything I ever loved
Yeah, yeah
Because the thing you lack when you're looking back
Is the pressure, the fear that you have to act
Yeah, everything is clearer when you're looking at the past
Oh no
And I don't care if I lose
Because my heroes did too
They shouted, "Court should be adjourned because the jury are fools!"
And the judge can't decipher his left from his right
Or his right from his wrong
And we will bite the hand that thieves
We will not turn the other cheek
This is no threat, it is a promise we will keep
So what's the point pretending
When we've seen behind the curtain
And there's nothing much to see
Oh yeah
I felt no pain 'til I was down and I was told that I was bleeding
And even then I knew I wasn't done
Yeah, yeah
Because the wounds I get they will just collect
Ensuring that I won't forget
Reminders of the battles that I've lost and that I've won
And I will fight 'til I have died
Or all my enemies are allies
And even then I will sleep with an open eye
Yeah, yeah
Because the night is long and our foes are strong
But I know that the road that we're travelling on
It only seems so dark because we've almost reached the dawn
Oh no
And I don't care if I lose
Because my heroes did too
They shouted, "Court should be adjourned because the jury are fools!"
And the judge can't decide his his left from his right
Or his right from his wrong
And we will bite the hand that thieves
We will not turn the other cheek
This is no threat, it is a promise we will keep
So what's the point pretending
When we've seen behind the curtain
And there's nothing much to see
Oh yeah
And everyone will claim
That they knew from the beginning
That what they did was wrong
But they still just went on sinning
The sudden rush you feel when realizing
Everything you know will fade away
It haunts you, dear
But you won't want to let it go
Someday we'll lose the war
But until then we will dream of winning
I won't forget the things you said when I was down and I was tired of it
The words you spoke, they brought me home
When it was time to fight, we chose a side
But everyone knew that something didn't feel right
So we stood our ground and waited for a sign
When it was time to fight, we chose a side
But everyone knew that something didn't feel right
So we stood our ground and waited for a sign
You said don't look back
Don't look down
Oh! We won't look back
We won't look down
We've gone too far
We're too high off the ground
The bridge was burned
The lesson learned
(Basically showing their frustrations with their a**hole of a record label)

The Postal Service - "Be Still My Heart"
I remember in freshman math writing the lyrics to this on the back of a worksheet when I was bored like it was yesterday. And now in two days I'm a senior...

Genesis - "Inside and Out"
Never a word could be heard
Not even the sound of a bird
Singing it over again
Telling a different story
Never the same as before
See the summer going out by the door
Now that you've paid for those lies,
Get another disguise

Certain people at band camp just really grind my gears.
Actually it's this one girl who doesn't respect upperclassmen, has an attitude, and just doesn't listen.
And that's not what makes a good member of a marching band.
That is all.

Magic Kids - "Candy"
Their 2010 album "Memphis" is perfect summer music and listening to it is bittersweet as I start school in a little over a week.

That's quite a schedule...don't expect to see you here much after you get started.
Embrace gym and have fun...Remember it's all about Mind AND Body...if you go there dreading it, you will get your wish and hate it.
Good luck.
I'm sure I'll find time to make the occasional post here or there.
The main reason I'm not looking forward to gym is not the activities that we do in gym, but the whole inconvenience of it as a class. It was bad enough in middle school and we didn't even have it all year. It's just going to be odd going from band to gym, changing, doing activities, changing back, and then going to Physics. I was hoping I'd have it either first or last period, but, no dice.

Finally got my senior year class schedule and something is weird about it...
Oh wait. I have a place for everything I requested at the end of last year.
1. Homeroom
2. Online AP French (Assuming here. Nothing listed as of yet)
3. AP English Lit
4. AP Music Theory
5. AP Calculus AB
6. AP US Government
7. Band
8. Gym
9. AP Physics C: Mechanics
So that's 6 AP Classes. Probably mostly scared for the Calculus-based Physics, but I should do fine.
Not looking forward to Gym at all.

We're the Millers
8.75/10
Just got home recently and was probably one of the funniest movies I've seen in a while. It was actually pretty well done for a raunchy comedy and everything seemed to flow well. While a few scenes went on a bit too long (the fake-incest kissing scene most notably) and a few plot points were predictable, I would definitely recommend it if you're in to bawdy comedies.
I mean, it's a movie about smuggling drugs from Mexico, I wasn't expecting a life-changing experience, but I did get the laughs I was expecting.

Frightened Rabbit - "Backyard Skulls"
Saw them yesterday at Lollapalooza and they were fantastic. A band that must be experienced live. I need to see them again.

It just agitates me when I'm breezing through the problems because I know the simple derivative trick while other people are still stuck on what a limit is. It's not that hard. I can't speak for the other period, but he is constantly asking for questions in my class. But everyone is too afraid of looking stupid.
We're doing a lab in AP Physics with very minimal, if any, teacher interaction. It's actually making me nervous that we're going to royally f**k something up and have our data be entirely wrong.
