  1. I like (and I hope this is classic enough for you all) the intro to "Pride (In The Name of Love)"...the crystal clear guitar and then the thundering drums make this a great song to hear any time.
  2. Don't Give Up On Us Baby was always played on a cassette while I was getting a facial. Maybe they found it soothing. I don't find it *so* bad but do think it is relatively cheesy. All I can think of when I hear that song is Owen Wilson strumming that song out and Ben Stiller high on some special brownies anyways. How about anything by Jennifer Love Hewitt?
  3. Well OK, I have to concede that I immediately thought of "Ask" as being the exact opposite of what I said regarding The Smiths, but I'd really like to know of other songs by The Smiths that aren;t so depressing and down, for my own musical education's benefit of course!
  4. Well hey, that's cool! Hope to see it soon bt take care of your fingers too!
  5. People really need to take a look at Lifes Rich Pageant, a really strong but not so well known R.E.M. album. It came about at the time in their career where they weren't super-huge big (that's be during Out of Time) or even mildly popular (that's be during Document and the radio-friendly singles The One I Love and Stand). The faster-paced songs also have an earest energy about them. It's hard not to dance along to "Just A Touch" or "Begin the Begin." Lifes Rich Pageant also has some of the most beautiful ballad songs I have ever heard on there ("The Flowers of Guatemala" and "Swan Swan H") and quirky lyrics that Michael Stipe was becoming famous (infamous?) for: "I Believe" and Underneath The Bunker."
  6. OK Shawna, how about mine:? October 20
  7. It has to be more than that. Nirvana is one of the best bands ever and The Smiths have this really happy sound sometimes, until you actually listen to the lyrics. But just like the people you hang out with, someone who is sad and depressed all the time, or angry or happy, a one-trick-pony type personality gets boring after awhile. I also don't want to hear They Might Be Giants extensively: silly is good but not all the time.
  8. Pearl Jam's You Got To Hide Your Love Away and Joe Cocker's With a Little Help From My Friends are really good.
  9. I've been listening to Jeff Buckley songs recently and it reminds me of the time when I must have been about 12 or so when I first got into the Beatles and I saw A Hard Day's Night for the first time, and I had no idea up until that point about what happened to John Lennon. I mean, I did, but I hadn't known about him and how talented and funny he seemed. And then to be told the guy's no longer around cause of something awful that happened...well, I feel the same way now about Jeff Buckley. Great great songs, and what a horrible shame he's gone.
  10. Oh wow...either The Real Me or Substitute. Has anyone seen the MOJO cover article on them for (I think) February? I really liked Fastball's version of "The Real Me" and Pat DiNizio's version of "Behind Blue Eyes." And Christmas...I had forgotten all about that song until I read someone else mention it. I remember seeing the musical Tommy when I was in high school and that song just killed me the first time I ever heard it. And being a fan of CSI (ha ha) I like Won't Get Fooled Again.
  11. Hmmm.... John's would be either Watching The Wheels or Instant Karma. Paul's would be Live and Let Die George's without any question would be What Is Life? Ringo...I honestly don't know so much about his solo career.
  12. That's right, he has made two references to the Kinks on the show. I'm just waiting for the ep where Liam walks off cause someone throws a shoe!
  13. Cool! Will look up his stuff online shortly. Thanks!
  14. RE: Jeff Buckley, is all his stuff like Hallelujah? I know it's not his song, and I absolutely love it even though I find it so beautifully sad. I guess I mean I can not imagine him having anything happy and uptempo (not necessarily a bad thing), especially knowing of this song and then that he has an album called "My Sweetheart The Drunk."
  15. And does anyone else see a bit of a parallel between Oasis and Driveshaft? I guess the same kind of "brotherly dynamic" existed in The Kinks as well, but I always think of Liam and Noel whenever I see Charlie and...hey, Liam...on the screen.
  16. It's not fair to say this as I haven't heard any of their music, but just from what I have read in the press about Babyshambles and about Pete Doherty, I think he is an utter moron.
  17. I remember when we were going through Beverly Hills when I was with my friend in 1998, it took all I had to not ask her to drive through Blue Jay Way just because to appease the Beatles fan in me. I thought she would think I was too weird or something. I saw it on a map, though, and I can see how people would have gotten lost looking for it. It's pretty removed from a main road.
  18. I found a way to get Season 2 episodes, and all I have to say is this is getting good! Anyone know anything about Geronimo Jackson?
  19. Rain In My Life Paperback Writer Eight Days A Week I Feel Fine That whole thing at the end of Abbey Road (She Came in Through the Bathroom Window, Polythene Pam...that SHOULD count as one song!) I Don't Want to Spoil The Party Penny Lane I've Just Seen A Face Dear Prudence
  20. Franz Ferdinand...going to their show soon in about 2 weeks!
  21. For me, in no real order: Mr. Moonlight The Long and Winding Road Blue Jay Way Run For Your Life Because I Want You (She's So Heavy) Act Naturally The Inner Light P.S. I Love You Revolution 9 I guess that does it for me, first instincts and all. Some are too cheesy for me, some are too scary. Nobody's perfect! And hey, I'm all for everyone having their own opinions, but I always liked All Together Now. Very throwaway but fun to sing with.
  22. I'd have to say I don't get what the fuss is about with Pink Floyd.
  23. Yeah, I was told that too, I'm going to do that as soon as I have some money. (Am planning a trip home for Easter and recovering from spending too much money for Franz Ferdinand tickets!)
  24. I absolutely LOVE this show, the only thing is they are being really slow (or just not quick enough for me) with showing the Season 2 eps in Hong Kong. I have already converted one friend who kind of laughed and rolled her eyes at me when I raved about how good this show is to her; now she's obsessed with Sawyer! Ha ha ha!
