I think it's brilliant, for the reasons Beth already pointed out. If the same picture was on the front of Time nobody would care. It already was on the cover of the New York Times. But since it's on a "music magazine", everybody is freaking out.

Sistrionix by Deap Vally is one of the best rock albums of the year. They're a female duo that fall somewhere in between the blues-rock purism of the Black Keys and the jagged hard rock of the White Stripes. And Lindsey Troy can wail.

In Keith Richards' book he says that the addicts who ended up ODing are the ones who got clean and then hopped back on and tried to take as much as they would have at their peak. That's how Keith survived, he never got clean! Anyways, that's probably what happened here.
