  1. Fairytale of New York, by The Pogues. It goes like this: It was Christmas Eve babe In the drunk tank An old man said to me, won't see another one And then he sang a song The Rare Old Mountain Dew I turned my face away And dreamed about you Got on a lucky one Came in eighteen to one I've got a feeling This year's for me and you So happy Christmas I love you baby I can see a better time When all our dreams come true They've got cars big as bars They've got rivers of gold But the wind goes right through you It's no place for the old When you first took my hand On a cold Christmas Eve You promised me Broadway was waiting for me You were handsome You were pretty Queen of New York City When the band finished playing They howled out for more Sinatra was swinging, All the drunks they were singing We kissed on a corner Then danced through the night The boys of the NYPD choir Were singing "Galway Bay" And the bells were ringing out For Christmas day You're a bum You're a punk You're an old slut on junk Lying there almost dead on a drip in that bed You scumbag, you maggot You cheap lousy faggot Happy Christmas your arse I pray God it's our last I could have been someone Well so could anyone You took my dreams from me When I first found you I kept them with me babe I put them with my own Can't make it all alone I've built my dreams around you
  2. "Why can't I get just one f**k? Why can't I get just one f**k? I guess it's something to do with luck But I waited my whole life for just one" No doubt they´re punk!
  3. The origins of Punk are in the late 60´s: Stooges, Velvet Underground...and of course MC5!!
  4. It´s Only Rock & Roll If I could stick my pen in my heart And spill it all over the stage Would it satisfy ya, would it slide on by ya Would you think the boy is strange? Ain't he strange? If I could win ya, if I could sing ya A love song so divine Would it be enough for your cheating heart If I broke down and cried? If I cried? I said I know it's only rock 'n roll but I like it I know it's only rock 'n roll but I like it, like it, yes, I do Oh, well, I like it, I like it, I like it I said can't you see that this old boy has been a lonely? If I could stick a knife in my heart Suicide right on stage Would it be enough for your teenage lust Would it help to ease the pain? Ease your brain? If I could dig down deep in my heart Feelings would flood on the page Would it satisfy ya, would it slide on by ya Would ya think the boy's insane? He's insane I said I know it's only rock 'n roll but I like it I said I know it's only rock'n roll but I like it, like it, yes, I do Oh, well, I like it, I like it, I like it I said can't you see that this old boy has been a lonely? And do ya think that you're the only girl around? I bet you think that you're the only woman in town I said I know it's only rock 'n roll but I like it I said I know it's only rock 'n roll but I like it I said I know it's only rock 'n roll but I like it, like it, yes, I do Oh, well, I like it, I like it. I like it... Still need reasons?
  5. Thanks, Edna, the page you found has cleared up my doubts. He made a new record this year and is still touring.
  6. That concert was about two years ago, but since that Elliot has honoured us with his presence some more times. I live in Bilbao and he has played here this tear too, and, as I told you, he will be here again in January. You´ve reminded me of Paul Collins, and yes, I remember a concert with The Beat about ten years ago in a little town near Bilbao called Etxebarri. Very fine! But I haven´t heard about him lately. Does he keep recordin and touring?
  7. Great album full of great songs. A 80´s classic.
  8. Don´t forget to include in your collection "Feelin´Satisfied" and "Amanda"
  9. Elliot Murphy really enjoys his job at his shows and makes audience enjoy. He talks to the people,, tells funny stories, makes jokes...Nice Guy!
  10. I do love "Moondance" too, it´s a superb album. It´s extremely hard to choose just one, Lambchop. As you say his new material is wonderful too: I think "Celtic New Year" is a fantastic song.
  11. I agree, Edna. The comparisons don´t stand
  12. "T.B. Sheets" reminds me strongly the atmosphere of Dylan´s "Blonde on Blonde", which I consider one of the greatest albums of all time; that´s why I like it very much.
  13. You can take all the tea in China Put it in a big brown bag for me Sail right around the seven oceans Drop it straight into the deep blue sea She's as sweet as tupelo honey She's an angel of the first degree She's as sweet as tupelo honey Just like honey from the bee You can't stop us on the road to freedom You can't keep us 'cause our eyes can see Men with insight, men in granite Knights in armor bent on chivalry She's as sweet as tupelo honey She's an angel of the first degree She's as sweet as tupelo honey Just like honey from the bee You can't stop us on the road to freedom You can't stop us 'cause our eyes can see Men with insight, men in granite Knights in armor intent on chivalry She's as sweet as tupelo honey She's an angel of the first degree She's as sweet as tupelo honey Just like honey from the bee You know she's alright You know she's alright with me She's alright, she's alright (she's an angel) You can take all the tea in China Put it in a big brown bag for me Sail it right around the seven oceans Drop it smack dab in the middle of the deep blue sea Because she's as sweet as tupelo honey She's an angel of the first degree She's as sweet as tupelo honey Just like honey from the bee She's as sweet as tupelo honey She's an angel of the first degree She's as sweet as tupelo honey Just like the honey, baby, from the bee She's my baby, you know she's alright.... Beautiful song! My favourites on this album are "Wild Night" and "Moonshine Whisky".
  14. Reasonable, daslied: the whole album is a "sweet thing"!!
  15. That´s right, EagleEye, but songs like "Fall On Me" make R.E.M. deserve a draw, at least.
  16. Great singer, composer, musician; one of the most fecund heads and one of the most personal and intense voices of popular music of all times; Yeah, I´m talking about Van Morrison. I´m sure this man has given you, songfactors, a big lot of unforgettable good times for your ears and hearts. I´ve been revisiting recently "Tupelo Honey" and "St. Dominic Preview" and I think they are big musical jewels. I´ve always considered "T.B. Sheets" and "Astral Weeks" as his two biggest masterpieces, but what about "Moondance", "His Band & The Street Choir, etc? What do you think is Van´s best L.P.?
  17. "Bullet With Butterfly Wings" is a great song from "Mellon Collie & The Infinite Sadness". In this same double CD I recomend you "Zero", "thirty three", "Stumbleine", "1979".I also recomend you their "Siamese Dream" L.P.It contains a masterpiece called "Disarm".
  18. "Choco nips" sounds good. And you know: different sizes, different prices.
  19. The Stones´best. And that´s sayin´a lot!
  20. Chocolate & boobs: irresistible combination!!!
  21. I´ve seen the Stooges live this summer playin´ and They´re still great!
  22. Am I sinning if I say the Flying Burrito Brothers´ version of "Wild horses" is much better than the one included by the Stones in "Sticky Fingers"?
