  2. Earth Angel,

That is IZ and no the song was not made for this commercial. In fact it has been used for several commercials including Ivory (soap) several years back and Toys 'r Us online just this past Christmas. It has also been featured in a car commercial, though I can't remember which one and as the closing tune for an ER episode. Hope that helps. Oh, just a side note, Iz passed away before the song was used for most if not all of these promos.

  3. Another good one (which probably most young 'uns wouldn't know about) is "American Pie" by Don McLean. For as fun and happy as it sounds, it's actually a pretty sad song about the deaths of some big name rockers of the time (the Big Bopper, Buddy Holly and Ritchie Valens) as well as several other significant events. A good site to walk you through the song is http://www.schlatter.org/ampie.htm

    Good Luck!

  4. OK, was just thinking about all the songs that I didn't care for at one time, but once they were remade they were likeable/lovable/or just awesome. Most remakes suck, but there are exceptions. And of course, this is an opinion question, so please respect each others remarks, because some may have liked the original better. I know there's more, but the ones that come to mind are

REMs "The End of the World as We Know It :P Redone by The Suicide Machines (Nothingew also made a pretty good remake) It's important to know that I am not a fan of REM.

Fleetwood Mac's "Go Your Own Way" redone by NOFX (OK, maybe it's not better, but it is much more entertaining...."if I could I'd give you my socks!"

Gloria Gaynor's classic "I Will Survive"-- Cake

Michael Jackson's "Smooth Crimal"--Alien Ant Farm

    Got More? :happybanana:

  5. Secretly Loving Someone?...try

    Dreaming (of You) by Selena

    Dreaming of You

Late at night when all the world is sleeping I stay up and think of you

And I wish on a star that somewhere you are

    thinking of me too

Cause I'm dreaming of you tonight

Till tomorrow, I'll be holding you tight

And there's nowhere in the world I'd rather be

than here in my room dreaming about you and me

Wonder if you ever see me and I

wonder if you know I'm there (am I there, am I?)

If you looked in my eyes would you see what's inside

    Would you even care?

I just wanna hold you close but so far

all I have are dreams of you

So I wait for the day (wait for the day)

to take the courage to say how much I love you

    Yes I do

I'll be dreaming of you tonight

Till tomorrow, I'll be holding you tight

And there's nowhere in the world I'd rather be

than here in my room dreaming about you and me

Corazón No puedo dejar de pensar en ti Como te necesito Mi amor, como te extraño

Late at night when all the world is sleeping

I stay up and think of you

    And I still can't believe

that you came up to me and said I love you

    I love you too

Now I'm dreaming with you tonight

Till tomorrow (till tomorrow) and for all of my life

And there's nowhere in the world I'd rather be

    than here in my room

    Dreaming with you endlessly

  6. Sorry UncleJoe, I went to iTunes, downloaded and listened, thinking maybe I had the lyrics wrong...but the whole tune is off. The one I have in my head is less Buddy Hollyish than the "I Want You, I Need You, I Love You" and actually has a faster tempo and deeper (baritone) vocal. The tune itself goes up in scale and then returns to the middle of the scale before resolving itself at the end of the phrase...if that helps? This is driving me mad, I tell ya!

I do have to say though, that I wish I had known the "I Want You, I Need You, I Love You" when I was back in college. There was a group of us girlfriends that decided that we were all "Player Haters" and we'd watch out for each other. If one of us thought another was being put on by some dumb boy, we'd walk past and say, "But baby, I want you. I love you. I need you." (A different order, but same meaning.) This was our cue to get out and away from whoever was hittin' on us.

  7. Does he ever sing the line, "I want you, I need you, I love you"?

OK...I have no other lyrics (including those listed above?) , because these are the only ones repeating in my head. As for the song, it's at least 23 years old...if not older. And, it's not Bad Manners...I still think it may be Elvis... :elvis:

  8. OK guys...quiz time. I looked all over and can not find the title to the following. The song itself is at least 23 years old, if not older. The singer, a male, sounds like Elvis...may even be Elvis, I don't know. The tune itself is enough to drive anyone crazy (as I am going nuts right now). Again, the singer is a male, kinda the crooner type. However it is not Frank Sinatra, not Stevie Wonder and I can't seem to make any lyrical connection with Elvis, but I seem to think it may have been him. The lyrics are:

I love you. I love you. I love you.

Please tell me, please tell me you love me too.

I love you. I love you. I love you.

That's all I can remember, other than that I think it was on the b-side of a 45 (an old record for you young'uns out there). Anyone know the name or artist? (Think it's probably "I love you. I love you. I love you.") I must admit, it is a bit annoying of a song (kind of a earworm). Any help would be appreciated. :help:

  9. Ooh! Don't make your final decision until you at least listen to "Feelin' Love" by Paula Cole. I'm not particularly a fan of hers...but the song is super sexy and easy to dance to. I think we had that played when my husband removed my garter...WAY classier than "The Stripper" (which is what I've heard at all other weddings).

  10. Oh, there's sooo many...must be hormonal. But, I dare anyone to get into the movie "Hope Floats." The movie itself is not so heartbreaking...but there is a scene in which the little girl (I' don't know her name, but she deserves and oscar, an emmy and any other award) is at her grandmother's funeral. Her father shows up (her parents are seperated) and she wants to go with him, but he wants to start a new life with his new chica. She stands in the driveway and cries, just like you would see any other seven year old kid do when their heart is broken. And it's not just crying, but crying so hard...oh, I'm getting teary just picturing the scene. If you can get through that with out tears...turn your prozac/paxil (insert drug of choice) down! :( :(

  11. OK, so my list is huge, but I've seen MANY of them already listed (ie: Drive by the Cars and Tears in Heaven-Clapton, to name a slight few. Other songs that put me into the waterworks (yes...I'm a girl) that I did not see listed (sorry if they were) are as follows:

No More Drama--Mary J. Blige (more hip hop though)

Holiday--Green Day (listen to the words)

    Dust in the Wind--Kansas

If I'd Been the One--38 Special

Paint It Black--The Rolling Stones (ya'll remember when this was the theme to a show called "Tour of Duty"?...still makes me bawl)

Fields of Gold--Sting/Eva Cassidy (really listen to the words)

Jack & Diane--John Cougar Mellancamp (again...listen to the words...it's so true)

Wonderful World--Louis Armstrong/Izzy K. (sorry, not really rock)

    Change of Heart--Cyndi Lauper

    Vincent--Don McLean

    Run for the Roses--Dan Fogelburg

Wake Me Up When Sept. Ends--Green Day

    With or Without You--U2

    Show Me the Way--Styx

Teach Your Children--CSN (not too sad, but makes me bawl)

    Cat's in the Cradle--Cat Stevens

Puff the Magic Dragon--PP&M (guarantees tears)

    Beth--KISS

    The Best of Times--Styx

    True Colors--Cyndi Lauper

I'll See You in My Dreams--Joe Brown (done with a Uke, for George Harrison after his passing...can be found on the album "Concert for George"...too touching)

Sadly, I know there's many I missed and many other excellent ones that have already been mentioned, so I'll bore you no more. In reflection, me thinks I must cry often. Thanks for reading :sleepy:
