  1. Isn't this the same ASSistant who was involved in a certain lawsuit with the Lennon estate after Lennon's death?
  2. It doesn't get much more random than this.
  3. Heart In A Cage (Strokes Cover) - Punch Brothers
  4. Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers . . . the first series.
  5. I just watched American Graffiti! It may not be as iconic as Star Wars, but I feel that it is George Lucas's best work!
  6. Kerry Livgren of the band Kansas was my Sunday school teacher at the Topeka Bible Church, which I attended every Sunday until I was about 15. Though he sang it, Barry Manilow did not write "I Write the Songs" The only member of ZZ Top to not have a beard was the drummer . . . Frank Beard. Jimi Hendrix's favorite guitarist was Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top. Born in the USA by Bruce Springsteen was the first CD pressed in the United States. George Michael's real name is Georgios Kyriacos Panayiotou.
  7. I just ordered tickets for the Kanrocksas music festival. Two days of awesome music. The lineup includes (but is not limited to): Muse The Black Keys The Flaming Lips Ween Primus Flogging Molly Cage the Elephant The Arctic Monkeys Jack's Mannequin OK Go Fitz and the Tantrums And there are still more to be announced!
  8. Thanks! I'm just glad she let me get away with wearing my Dropkick Murphys t-shirt
  9. Just got some of the engagement pictures back. Here's a sample: Bigger version And one featuring the ring: Bigger version
  10. Chandra and I went to get out engagement pictures. I must've gotten into something . . . Cause now I'm covered in poison ivy.
  11. I did! And it was AWESOME! It seems that my fiance hadn't seen it . . . so that had to change.
  12. Are you kidding? Those effects were brilliant! That first transformation scene was amazing. The fact that they had to do everything with practical effects is far more impressive than any CGI can be for me. I think I may have to watch that tonight!
  13. I liked some aspects of Inception. Like what Hans Zimmer did with the music. It's pretty sweet that the main theme is just the song they used to wake up . . . but waaaay slower. Which is a cool, almost subconscious, way of showing the way time is perceived in the dreams. A link to a side by side comparison.
  14. My old band used to do a cover of that song!
  15. I just ordered tickets to take my niece to see Katy Perry . . . *sarcasm* *sarcasm*. I have a friend who is one of the higher-ups at the arena she's playing so we get to go backstage and have a meet-and-greet with Katy Perry herself. Oh joy . . . the things I do to spoil that girl . . .
  16. I just went to see the midnight premiere of Green Lantern and I have to say, IT WAS AWESOME! As a die hard fan of the comics I obviously went in with just a tiny bit of bias. But it was still good, definitely not deserving of all the negativity from the critics. It was a fun movie with a solid story and good action. I don't know what people are expecting from a comic book movie about a space cop in a suit made of light making whatever he can imagine out of pure energy. Anywho, not every comic book movie is going to be dark and gritty, and they shouldn't have to. I'd give it a 8/10. I'm docking it two points because Mark Strong as Sinestro doesn't have near enough screen time.
  17. I loved True Grit! But that's to be expected . . . I love the Coen brothers.
  18. You Only Live Once - The Strokes I think I may have a bit of a man crush on Julian Casablancas . . .
  19. I agree, the yellow weakness works in the comics but would seem silly in a movie. Unless they do it like in the later comics where yellow is only a problem for new recruits. But after they learn to embrace and overcome their fear it's no longer an issue.
  20. I'm pretty sure that won't be an issue, at least not in this movie. The yellow weakness was because yellow is the color of fear. For a majority of Green Lantern's run, Parallax (the living embodiment of fear) was imprisoned in the central power battery on the Green Lantern homeworld, Oa. His imprisonment caused an impurity in the GL's rings thhat caused them to be useless against yellow objects. Since Parallax is the main villain in the movie, it would make sense to not have the yellow impurity . . . At least not yet. Wow . . . That was nerdy.
  21. Superman II was far better than Superman: The Movie. And, of course Empire Strikes Back. But yeah, it is pretty rare that the sequels measure up to the original. Anywho, went to see X-Men: First Class last night and it was much better than expected. I figured it would be enjoyable, but nothing spectacular. I really like James McAvoy so I was biased there. I'm a pretty big fan of Kevin Bacon as well. But Michael Fassbender (Magneto) stole the show. The action was good, the story was good, and the acting was really good. I was impressed and that's pretty spectacular coming from a loyal DC fan. I'd give it a 9/10
  22. I just finished reading everything (so far) in the Geoff John's run of Green Lantern to get ready for the Green Lantern premiere on Thursday night! Definitely some of the best comics written in the past decade. 10/10 Actually, 50/10 Extra credit for this cover: Full size version
  23. I just ordered my ticket to go see Green Lantern! Been waiting for that movie since I read my first Green Lantern comic when I was 8 years old! 15 years of anticipation and it's all going to be over in 4 days. I'm so excited!
  24. Just eating some awesome potato skins that I made
