i am doing a web project in college about tom petty and how the stereotype of drugs follows him on too great of a measure. of course, his lyrics do make reference to drugs but there is deeper meaning behind it. i want to know if you know any more than is posted about american girl and mary janes last dance. so u believe american girls urban legend about the suicide is true or just coincidence in thr song? so u think mary jane is about divorce or drugs?
