  1. Hello All! Thank you Thank you for all of the great feedback on my last post...you're all amazing! So here's something brand new for y'all to check out. I wrote this as an assignment for my World Lit. class (we had to come up with the most tresured object in our lives and write about it...I chose a moment in time). This is probably my most vivd and poignant memory because it was the percise instant that I fell in love with my best friend (whom is now my boyfriend :. From the moment I met him, I knew that there was something profoundly important about him; that he would become a fixed object in my life, but I didn't realize the magnitude of his presence until that night. Being as scientific as I am, I have never been one to believe in soul mates, but what I experienced, how I felt in that moment made me the most hard-core supporter of the concept that has ever walked the planet...I kid you not. Let me know what you think...oh and btw, the assignment was that we had to express our feelings towards the object in a Flaubert-like fasion (we're reading Madame Bovary) which I absolutely adore (surprise, surprise). The memory is exquisitely vivid; the colors and shapes meld together in perfect harmony. The lucidity of the moment is astounding. We walked upon trillion hand-crushed diamonds illuminated by the scintillations of a lazy moon. The ebony canvas hung warmly above playing host to countless stars dancing in an extraordinary celebration of the dawning of night. Sapphires lapped at our ankles, beckoning for us to come and play among the salty zephyrs that tousled the lustrous surface. In that instant, we existed in our own private nation. Heaven could have fallen into the fading twilight, and we wouldn?t have noticed. Minds met silently under that star-blotched sky, never once a word was spoken, yet profound discoveries were made. Liquid skin dripped together, undressing our emotions and fading into the profound beauty aglow in our eyes. Palm on palm, the electricity of that simple action reached out and touched my very soul. Smooth hands tucked self-conscious umber locks gently behind delicate ears and protective arms encircled hearts beating in time to the waves. Our gaze met within the power of a single smile and falling into his perfect embrace, I finally believed.
  2. 'mazing as usual! What kind of music did u put this to?
  3. So for my boyfriend for Christmas, I am making him a scrap book with poems that I have written for him, as well as piecies by other authors, qoutes, song lyrics, pictures, etc. So tonight, we had our secret santa party and I decided that I would give him a hint as to what his present was going to be. I hope you enjoy, and if you have any questions as to what any of the poem is referring to, please feel free to ask! Musings dreams are dreams gone dusty and fading in the purple sunlight it is understandable; why? we?re still here? they?ve left us so deftly ? did we realize they?d even danced by? and in places now empty in wait: a sigh from rose petal lips, a song from snowdrop eyes. i still remember you in a time that didn?t quite always exist. but the pictures still play in cartwheels and summersaults and on pointed toes laughing (if only in my heart). ?reminds me now how i longed for everything and anything of the life i finally know. the intense beauty of a single star dazzled by explosions ?can you hear them falling?? losing ourselves; our minds; and yet not even so. in an instant, there is no right or wrong (or left, for that matter) just the pleasure of moments. and from you, for you and by you i've finally latched on to that invalid dream and twisted it into a long runonsentence to prove a point and be it not clear that onto you everything i bestow know now that you are my only why to reach up and catch a thousand stars.
  4. YAY! Beautiful as always! But if I may ask a VERY stupid question (and you all must know that I completely understand how pedestrian this query is...) what IS chamber pop? I'm trying to get the full effect of the song in my head and it's just not getting there...haha...well, I've been embarrassed enough for one day...Bravo on your great work! Nikki ::
  5. I loved the piece...im so glad you started posting again...you know my story...and this makes more sense than it ever would have before...thanks for posting it
  6. I'm agnostic (simply because I am far to scientific and cannot prove or disprove the existence of g-d) but I was brought up in a devout Roman Catholic (Italian) family, so Christmas is a huge tradition in my house. We do the decorate-after-thanksgiving thing...our interior designer changed the house all around this year so we had to get all new stuff...that was soooooo much fun! We have two trees (soon to be three) and the whole boughs of evergreen around the lamp post w/ cranberry velvet bows and excessive amounts of white lights (but not enought to make it look tacky!). Every room gets decorated, even the bathrooms! We start Chrismas on the first of December and it goes through the first of Jan. We cook alot and sing tons of traditional songs and then we have La Vigiale di Natalie (the vigil of christmas) where we eat a feast of seven fish and have about 60 people over for an all-night vigil "for the coming of christ" (i just do it for the food and the family!! :. I may not believe in what christmas stands for religiously, but I do believe in it as a symbol of peace and unity (and a great reason to see my favorite family memebers!) hehe...the presents don't hurt either!!!!! :: :: ::
  7. See Aaron? That wasn't so hard! hehe! Really, that was great...i really liked the flow.
  8. the horse (who, by the way is named Lord Byron...haha, even my horse is named after a poet...im so sad) actually lives about ten miles away in Concord, MA...hehe, though Byron would fit on the train...he's only about 900 lbs. and 14.1 hands tall (that's about 4.7ft @ the shoulder)...that would be pretty d*mn funny...he might, however, exceed the weight limit...poor thing...he has a slight weight issue!
  9. POST IT POST IT!!! I promise i'll respond
  10. haha the ven...definately a typo...supposed to say EVEN haha yeah, it confused me too when i read teh post!
  11. Hullo all...so im sorta new here (i've had a few posts on the Creative Writing forum) and I was just wondering what everyone was into out there...personally? I am huge into horseback riding (hunter/jumpers) and I am pretty into fencing as well. I love to write (obviously...hehe : and I am a total science geek (mostly molecular genetics and astrophysics, but I am fairly open to all scientific endevors). I am a sr. in high school and will hopefully (if there is a g-d out there who has been listening to my prayers since I was four) attend Harvard next year. I love John Steinbeck, James Joyce, and E.E. Cummings above all others and have a scary obsession with all things post-grunge (musically, that is)...especially The Smashing Pumpkins, Bush, and Pearl Jam (though they are kinda on the edge of that genera). I am mostly into writing short fiction and free verse poetry (though I do dabble with sonnets and haikus at times) and I do write a bunch of fanfiction. I have an incredible boyfriend (who is also one of my two best friends...who I will most likely be with for the rest of my life...hehe...yay!); a best friend (the other one) that I known since I was six; two dogs, a pony (hopefully he will have a few new friends soon) and a huge italian family. Whew...that's me in a nutshell... So I gave you insight on me...now tell me bout you!!!!
  12. Okey dokey...so y'all may or may not know that E.E. Cummings (note the capitalization...yes, the lawyers finally resolved this issue!!) is my favorite poet and one of my greatest influences. Coupled with James Joyce, you get one mean, slightly confusing piece of prose. So basically, this is a stream-of-consciousness poem with Cummingsesque spacing, punctuation, capitalization and intended spelling errors (note: attentionspan...get it? hehe). Basically, this was my train of thought at 12:45 am in the form of a poem. Considerations and taking into account all that I have done to create this Invalid Dream? i consider what i have finally come to realize is nothing more than a short attentionspan & a desire for something that my Mind cannot quite wrap around. and yet ? in all seriousness ? i still believe that i might ?OneDay? just touch that Wishing-Star; ven if only with my Eyes. ~A girl to her horse
  13. My greatest influences are E.E. Cummings, James Joyce (Thank you so very much for Stream-of-Consciousness) and quite possibly Dante (but that's only when I write in Italian...not that I do that very often). As to where my short stories come from...I have absolutely no idea!
  14. I wrote this in about five minutes. I have no idea where this came from, but I fell in love with it as I was writing. I also noticed that most people post poems and songs here (wiht the exception of a few stories) so I thought I would throw in this short piece. Feedback is appreciated. Oh, and if anyone has any suggestions about the title (i.e. whether I should keep it, what I could chage is to, etc.) that would be great! She watched him with abated interest, her fingers dead against the stark ivory. In her mind, an intense melody of perfect cadence roared, haunting her every thought as she tried to expel the aria through tense hands. He was speaking, she was sure, but she heard nothing but the sound of the keys sending mallets flying over flawlessly tuned strings, engulfing her body in the most incredible sensations. His hands were on her shoulders suddenly, shattering her concentration. Her finger slipped from a C to a B and it was gone. She slammed her fists down into the sea of black and white, creating waves of screaming protests to such an inelegant expression. She forced herself away from his penetrating gaze, abandoning her sanctuary and retreating into the fragile shell that she became so long ago. He advanced upon her, moving in time to the beat that kept constantly in her brain; she loathed the sound of his feet falling over the mahogany flooring. Arms outstretched, he tried in vain to take a hold of her once more, begging ? merely above a whisper ? with words of remorse and comprehension. Her doe eyes hardened to charcoal and emotion escaped her, leaving her numb and silent; her music played on in her head. He fell quiet, staring at her momentarily, with great curiosity. He reached out and gently laid a hand on the black cashmere of her sweater, his palm spread flat over her trim stomach. Her eyes flew to meet his. Utter shock encircled her delicate features. And the music came crashing to a halt. Their breathing echoing in time to the beat that kept constantly in her brain.
  15. Phenominal. I wish I could hear the music that you put this to; it must sound wonderful. Keep up the great work. ~A girl to her greatest love
  16. I wrote this as a piece for my poetry class and I ended up absolutely loving it. Feedback is greatly appreciated. Say goodbye to a world you never had. Shattered fragments fade into the vastness Of your eyes. The night no longer holds sad Connotations, only the stained plastic Of lies. Find no more peace in seclusion, Empty sheets of canvas wither and turn Black against the jaundice light. Delusions Of nightmares sweep anguish anew and spurn All hope of beauty in a graying space. And yet, still you wish you might once go back; Back to a world and a time and a place You reached, if only in dreams. Do not pack Away your passions on a broken shelf. In the grips of loss will you find yourself.
