  2. Thank you Dear Elena. So I'm not a pain in the neck all the time Seriously, that's one of the reasons I don't spend as much time on the computer - I get a really stiff neck. I've been for Xrays and my vertebrae aren't too bad for an old geezer. I just got back from the physiotherapist and she's helped a heck of a lot. I might have to hire a typist. It's taken me 10 minutes to type this reply.

  4. Due to a few circumstances the Top 500 One Song Per Artist 1964-69 hasn't progressed as well as I would have liked. I seem to be finding it much more difficult than the previous, 1955-63. Maybe my powers of concentration are lessening; twice I've thought I was deleting just a song and lost the whole darn lot. I hate computers. Anyway, I have my Top Ten - 6 U.S. and 4 U.K. Artists/Groups - and about another 200 'definites'. I'll keep at it. Once I sort out the top 100 or so, it should be easier. Cheers to All.
  5. I just came in to pay tribute to Elvis Presley. 37 years gone. His Music lives on. 3. DON'T BE CRUEL - ELVIS PRESLEY (#1, 1956) Backed with 'Hound Dog' this was the most successful of Elvis' records, spending 11 weeks at #1 in August to October 1956. Both songs were elected to the Grammy Hall of Fame. Don't Be Cruel has always been my favourite Elvis song. Written by a young Otis Blackwell. Elvis was.....THE KING !
  6. Bye for now. I'm taking a break to work on my Top 500 1964/69. You all take care

  8. Some of these kids are pretty big nowadays Ray.
  9. Ray, I hear that Sammy's moved up from lunch money to controlling the big Bingo games at all the Mick Schools in his neighborhood. I used to have a stake in the Chocolate Wheel racket before the Nuns (God bless'em) told my parents it was 'time for me to go to a Brothers' school'. There I successfully made a 'book' on the 1955 Melbourne Cup. I couldn't have paid if the favorite won, but an outsider beat him. Who says there's no God ?
  10. California Girls - David Lee Roth (1985) Mississippi - Pussycat (1976) Rosanna - Toto (1982)
  11. Welcome back ! "To be back" ? It's not Fintan under an alias, is it ? I see you're a Musician Andy. I don't have any money either.
  12. Smith was an American Pop/Rock group, formed in Los Angeles in 1969 with Gayle McCormick on vocals. They made U.S. # 5 that year (didn't chart U.K.) with a cover of the Bacharach/David song Baby It's You, originally a Top Ten hit for The Shirelles. ................................................. Hole In My Shoe - Traffic. There's lots of info about Traffic on Wiki of course. This song was their biggest Hit in the U.K. at #2 in 1967 but didn't chart in the U.S. Composed by their guitarist Dave Mason, it wasn't liked by the other 3 band members, Stevie Winwood, Chris Wood and Jim Capaldi. Covered by Nigel Planer (Neil in 'The Young Ones' British TV comedy - a favourite in our household) his version also reached #2 in 1984.
  13. The Electric Prunes were a mid 60s psychedelic acid/garage rock band from the San Fernando Valley in Los Angeles, California. They were well known for their offbeat and unique hard-rocking sound which made inventive and extensive use of echo, reverb, and other kinds of quirky sonic distortion. The group first formed in 1965. I Had Too Much To Dream (Last Night)was the band's biggest hit, released as a single in 1966 and reached #11 in the U.S. in 1967. You're welcome Dear Edna. Keep up the good work.
  14. Good one Kenne. I'd never seen that video before today. The Wilburys were a great concept. Their only songs that got any airplay here in Australia were 'Handle With Care' - made it to #2 - and 'End Of The Line', Top 20. My eldest kids and I used to watch those on the "Rage" Top 40 video countdown on Saturday mornings in 1988/9. Good memories.

  18. Not far to go on the new list. I just finished the 'A's. "Sugar, Sugar - The Archies" with Ron Dante will be (at this stage) my second top song there. That rules out "Tracy" - The Cuff Links, because Ron Dante was the Cuff Links. Same with some of the other 'Bubblegum' songs. Joey Levine sang lead on both 1910 Fruit Gum Co. and Ohio Express, so I'll only use one of those. Ditto with Four Seasons/ Frankie Valli, although I hate leaving out 'Can't Take My Eyes Off You'.
  19. Thanks Kenne. 1. Reelin' & Rockin' – Chuck Berry (1958) 2. Suspicion – Terry Stafford (1964) 3. Raining In My Heart – Buddy Holly (1959) 4. I like it. If there weren't so many good 50s/60s songs this week I would have voted for it.
  20. Hot Mainstream Rock Tracks Sounds like something you'd see on a menu at an Indian Restaurant. Onya Edna.
  21. Keep Searchin' (We'll Follow The Sun) - Del Shannon (1964) Reelin' & Rockin' - Chuck Berry (1958) Suspicion - Terry Stafford (1964)
  22. Bit down on nominations ! We've got visitors here at the moment so I'll return and nominate later. Where's Buddy Does 'Buddy' really exist
