  1. I looked up your 'profile' to see if I could find your name and saw you'd just had your Birthday. I'll look into those Artists/Groups you mentioned. Thanks !
  2. Do You Wanna Touch Me (Oh Yeah) was written by Gary Glitter and Mike Leander. It was a U.K. #2 for Glitter in 1973. Joan Jett & The Blackhearts' 1982 cover reached #20 in the U.S., didn't chart in the U.K.
  3. Where's Sammy He likes Gurrl Rockers. :guitar: I'm pleased to see 'Rock And Roll Heaven' and 'Make Me Lose Control' make it. Eric Carmen is so underrated.
  4. Thanks for contributing and Happy Belated Birthday for last Saturday. Yes, I couldn't find any Hits for either of those in the UK Charts, and both songs were new to me, although I did know 'Your Love' when I heard it. The Outfield had 8 US Hot 100 hits, that being their only Top 10. Ian Gomm's 'Hold On' is a very pleasant song also. Why not join the Songfactors' Choice Top Ten ? Those would be two great nominations ! There should be a new one (#402) starting soon. If you'd like to know more about it you could contact Kenne (Wyld Card) or any one who's participated in #401. I think you'd enjoy it. Your Love - The Outfield (1986) U.S. #6 Hold On - Ian Gomm (1979) U.S. #18 ARTISTS/GROUPS FEATURED SO FAR.... 5. 1. Rock And Roll Heaven – The Righteous Brothers (1974) 2. Do You Wanna Touch Me (Oh Yeah) – Joan Jett & The Blackhearts (1982) 3. Treat Her Right – Roy Head And The Traits (1965) 4. Make Me Lose Control – Eric Carmen (1988) 5. I Want To Break Free – Queen (1984) 6. Betcha By Golly Wow – Stylistics (1971) 7. I'm Not The Only One – Sam Smith (2014) My 13 year old granddaughter plays this one ! 8. If I Ever Lose My Faith In You – Sting (1993) 9. Heavy Metal – Sammy Hagar (1981) 10.He's Misstra Know–It–All – Stevie Wonder (1973)
  6. Thanks Phil and Ray. You're good friends (and both 18+).
  7. I hear you Ray. Australian radio stations didn't play much in the way of R&B/ Soul unless they were big crossover Pop Hits. When I retired I sought out lots of Atlantic and Motown compilations to catch up on some of those great songs.
  8. Thanks Mate. Yes, I'll leave it there. She really rocks - much better than Gary Glitter's version. For all my so called music knowledge I'm lousy on lyrics and didn't know all of these until I downloaded it.
  9. Thanks Phil. How about the one I just added ? Think it's a little too risque ?
  10. Do You Wanna Touch Me (Oh Yeah) - Joan Jett & The Blackhearts (1982) 18 + Rock And Roll Heaven - The Righteous Brothers (1974) Treat Her Right - Roy Head And The Traits (1965)
  11. Hey - I'm 74, not 94 What do we need ? 10 nominators for a game ? 8 so far. Give me another day and I'll come up with some noms tomorrow PM. (Have to go out in the morning).
  12. Great research Ray. It's not an error - it's an era. AC/DC are a little outside my 'comfort' time zone. I'm more at home with 50s and 60s; raising 5 kids in the 70s/80s and making a living didn't give us a lot of time or money to buy records, except for those K-Tel 'Greatest Hits' albums and tapes!
  13. Yes Laurie Not my favorite of their's but definitely TT material.
  14. Hi Ray ! Thanks for that, but that single is a 2012 re-issue of the song. I don't think 'Back In Black' was originally released as a single in Australia. 'What Do You Do For Money Honey' was the B side of one of their big Australian Hits - (maybe 'You Shook Me All Night Long' ?). Unfortunately I don't have a reliable Australian AC/DC Discography of all their singles. Happy New Year Mate.
  15. Most are unknown to me unfortunately. I'd vote for Stevie Wonder and 2 of Kenne's. That's six I'd have if I Nominate. Come on Ray and Laurie. You both have one more nomination. Tempt me with something I'd know.
  16. Checking through the Artists/Groups we've looked at so far, I noticed I had only two from the UK. This song definitely deserves a mention..... To Sir With Love - Lulu (1967) This is the original UK record where it was released as a 'B' side. It reached #2 in Australia, and was a massive US Hit staying at #1 for 5 weeks ! 17. Thanks Ray ! It was out of order, all fixed now. (Whoever Black Stone Cherry may be ) I imagine Kenne will keep nominations open a little longer until people are aware the Top Ten's returned. I'll pop back to see if any others with similar tastes to mine have nominated some songs I know. If so I'll nominate too. (Misstra Know It All is all I know so far) Cheers All.
  18. Happy Birthday Dear Elena. :inlove:
  19. The old Sammy the Shocker. I've never heard it before Brad ! I don't think our AM stations played that one.
  20. Hi dear Shawna. My Mom had it too on a 78 rpm record. There were a couple of other versions, but Dino's is the best I think.
  21. Silhouettes - The Rays (1957) two strangers who had been two silhouettes on the shade said to my shock "you're on the wrong block" A better ending would have been if he'd rushed in and shot them in a rit of fealous jage. Oops !
  22. Thanks dear Elena. I've seen those Italian words beside the English title before, but didn't know that !
  23. Hi guys. Probably not what you're looking for, but here's 2 possibilities: 3 guitarists, 1 drummer 3 English, 1 Australian
  24. Tar And Cement - Verdelle Smith (1966) A beautiful song about a young woman who leaves her small home town for the Big City. But her life is lonely there amongst all the 'tar and cement. Years later she decides to return to the lush green meadows of Home. But sadly they have been turned into a 6 lane Highway of 'tar and cement'.
  25. Some good ones there. I always feel sorry for that guy Laurie; but I suppose he shouldn't be reading someone else's Diary. Here's one that's 60 years old ...the last line reveals all. The Naughty Lady Of Shady Lane - Dean Martin Lyrics The naughty lady of shady lane had hit the town like a bomb The back fence gossips ain't been this good since Mabel ran off with Tom Our town was peaceful and quite before she came on the scene The lady has started a riot disturbing the suburban routine Oh the naughty lady of shady lane has the town in a whirl The naughty lady of shady lane me oh my oh what a girl You should see how see carries on with her admirers galore She must be giving them quite a thrill the way they flock to her door She throws those come-hither glances at every Tom, Dick and Joe When offered some liquid refreshment the lady never never says no Oh the naughty lady of shady lane has the town in a whirl The naughty lady of shady lane me oh my oh what a girl The things they're trying to pin on her won't hold much water I'm sure Beneath the powder and fancy lace there beats a heart sweet and pure She just needs someone to change her then she'll be nice as can be If you're in the neighborhood stranger you're welcome to drop in and see The naughty lady of shady lane so delightful to hold The naughty lady of shady lane she's delectable quite respectable And she's only nine days old
