  4. My favorite Grand Funk song. The lyrics are so wonderful, it's the greatest "never look back on your past" song. I've always lived by the concept of "learn from your past but never look back upon it". It's a great song to listen to when something bad has happened and you need a pick-me-up to get your head straight again. When things get bad, always remember that you can make them good again by not living in the past.
  5. Since I'll be gone until next Thursday, here's next week's lyrics for you to ponder. "Stop Lookin' Back" - Grand Funk Railroad Stuck in the county jail Nobody here gonna' pay my bail Thirty days with a smelly drunk A turn-key callin' me a dirty punk I got to pick myself up, and stop lookin' back And I've got to move straight ahead, stop lookin' back Shoot for the stars when my eyes can't see the starlight Reach for the sun in the night Stop lookin' back at the times I was defeated I pick myself up, I move straight ahead, I stop lookin' back Stranded! Nothing worse I'm livin' on coffee, I got an empty purse I'm dreamin' 'bout blue eyes lookin' my way Hopin' my dreams don't blow away I got to pick myself up, and stop lookin' back And I've got to move straight ahead, stop lookin' back Shoot for the stars when my eyes can't see the starlight Reach for the sun in the night Stop lookin' back at the times I was defeated I pick myself up, I move straight ahead, I stop lookin' back

  7. If I had TIVO, I would set it to record Britney every single day. But I don't have TIVO, so I guess I really don't give a rats @$$. Hmm, interesting... So in the vote for best reality television, we have Britney Spears vs. Jessica Simpson vs. Anna Nicole Smith. Or better yet, a celebrity deathmatch!
  8. Skynyrd has an acoustic album... "Endangered Species" There's an acoustic version of "Sweet Home Alabama" and "Saturday Night Special" and "Things Goin' On" just to name a few.
  9. Sammy and I have plans of building the next Vatican in space where all guests are by invite only. We have a very strict code of ethics... Oh yeah, and Uncle Joe is our ethical advisor.
  10. Brownies will be our negotiating leverage with Sammy. Foxy, feel free to continue playing around with the logo, mine was a very rough cut.
  11. Yours is more creative, but a bit girlie. I'm sure the Songfactorettes will love it though.
  12. Update: ***Just added: Wishbone Ash*** Here's the current line-up schedule. Wednesday July 13 11:00 Lynyrd Skynyrd 9:00 .38 Special 7:00 Daisy Dillman Band 4:30 TBA 3:00 TBA Thursday July 14 11:00 REO Speedwagon 9:00 Cheap Trick 7:00 Grand Funk Railroad 4:30 Wishbone Ash 3:00 TBA Friday July 15 11:00 Journey 9:00 David Lee Roth 7:00 TBA 4:30 TBA 3:00 TBA Saturday July 16 11:00 TBA 9:00 Whitesnake 7:00 TBA 4:30 TBA 3:00 Savoy Brown As a reminder to all who are interested, Friday April 15 is your last chance to purchase discounted tickets. Only 98 days left!
  13. It needs a little work, this is a rough copy. But I have limited tools to work with. Sammy can get royalties if he's able to clean up the logo a little so that it looks even cooler!
  14. I was referring to pop music and rock bands that sellout to the pop industry.
  15. There's something to be said about longevity in the music industry. I can't see anyone wanted to listen to Britney Spears 30 years from now. And yet, people are willing to pay hundreds of dollars to see the Rolling Stones in concert. No one will go crazy because Good Charolette is playing at Super Bowl 60, and yet, everyone freaked out when Paul McCartney was up on stage. Classic rock is all about the music and the way it makes people feel, not how large it makes everyones wallets in a 5 year span.
  16. Sammy, that's the best rock 'n' roll out there! We'll write a song about it when we move into the Vatican.
  17. I wonder if it will be advertised as John Squared! I can't find any tour dates, but Fogerty is coming back to the US in November (currently booked). He's overseas this Spring. The Mellencamp site listed his maximum ticket price at $45. I really like it when old artists realize that they don't have to charge a fortune for their fans to listen to them live.
  18. I don't have enough Who albums, but I definitely like Who's Next and Tommy. I have The Who Sell Out, and it's pretty good. But I don't know if it's worthy of #4. If I had to rank Lynyrd Skynyrd Albums... 1. Pronounced (leh-nerd skin-nerd) 2. Street Survivors 3. Second Helping 4. Nuthin' Fancy (or Vicious Cycle, kind of a toss-up) It's a shame that the original line-up didn't make more albums. I think they were really hitting their peak when the plane crash occurred.
  19. I'm trying Peaches. Every now and then I hit a set of lyrics that everyone seems to be eager to form their opinion or at least say something. It's kind of hit or miss. But I'll keep plugging away. And Carole, I think country-blues can sing whatever they want to. I actually like the term Country-Blues much better to describe The Marshall Tucker Band. But those are 2 of the key ingredients to Southern Rock.
  20. I can only respond to Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin as those are the only ones I have enough albums of. Led Zeppelin: I don't agree with at all. I personally think "II" was their best album, "I" was their second best album, then maybe "Physical Graffiti" or "(IV)". "III" is pretty good, but I like "Houses of the Holy" better. Pink Floyd: I would agree with the first 3 (although maybe putting "The Wall" as # 4), but there really needs to be a pre-DSoTM album on this listing. "Obscurred By Clouds" or "Meddle", "Animals" is good, but I like their creativeness in the other two better.
  21. (according to about.com) Jimi Hendrix 1. Electric Ladyland (1968) 2. Are You Experienced? (1967) 3. Axis: Bold As Love (1967) 4. Band of Gypsys (1970) Aerosmith 1. Toys in the Attic (1975) 2. Get Your Wings (1974) 3. Permanent Vacation (1987) 4. Pump (1989) Bob Dylan 1. Blood on the Tracks (1975) 2. Highway 61 Revisited (1965) 3. Blonde on Blonde (1966) 4. Bringing it all Back Home (1965) The Doors 1. The Doors (1967) 2. Morrison Hotel (1970) 3. L.A. Woman (1971) 4. Strange Days (1967) Pink Floyd 1. Dark Side of the Moon (1973) 2. The Who Sell Out (1967) Rolling Stones 1. Exile On Main Street (1972) 2. Sticky Fingers (1971) 3. Let It Bleed (1969) 4. Beggar's Banquet (1968) Share your opinions...
  22. There is no Marshall Tucker. According to Carl, they saw the name on a key ring and liked the name. I actually submitted this song to Songfacts for this last update. I was very happy to see it there! But to Sammy's reply, Marshall Tucker Band doesn't generally fall into the typical Country and Western song form factor. Although they do have this happen on occassion, it's not the majority of their music. In one of their songs, they actually describe their music as Country-Blues, which I think is a much better description.
  23. Sammy and I will have to purchase it for our US vacation spot when we take a leave of absence from our Pope and Vice-Pope duties. :: ::
  24. A fantastic song about a woman that has done you wrong. The lyrics are so catchy and so easy to sing to. It's a phenomenal song and it's not hard to understand why this is a legendary Southern Rock classic. For all those who don't know, this is on the album "The Marshall Tucker Band".
