  1. I guess thriller/horrors are always a higher risk in this category, aren't they. For me, the Exorcist II was definately a bummer. If it had even kept part of the elements that made the first one so great I think I could have put up with it. I mean just having Linda Blair running around freaking people out in that makeup ( which is still primo 30+ years on) would've made the movie ! :: BTW, XXX, is your icon from some game ? If so, can I ask which ?
  2. I'd like to get a list of movies we've seen that we really expected or hoped were going be great , but, to us at least, they just sucked ! For starters: "Dancer in the Dark" -Bjork "League of Extraordinary Gentlemen" -Sean Connery "Titanic" - Dicaprio "The Phantom Menace" - Yoda "Star Trek (the motion picture) - William Shatner :sleepy:
  3. It was just himself with his most recent bunch. About 80% of the show were P.F songs and the remainder being his solo works. Had a big screen behind him doing Pink Floyd-ish and other artistic stuff. Small venue, great accoustics--you're right ,not all the boys were there, but still nice to spend an evening with the great man (and be able to really see him rather than looking at a jumbo-ton or something !) :guitar:

Without wanting to ask your age , I'd suggest that you may have seen an American television miniseries called "Holocaust" . After it aired on television, many movie channels replayed it. I'd guess that it was originally out 20~ or so years ago.

LOL...You're right, Roger, I am a bit of a dumbass. The reason I posted was that I recalled you being a bit of a Bush-guy in an earlier thread, and I was just trying to get your goat. Anyway, no harm intended; hopefully none done. :happybanana:
  6. I'm sure you've been waiting for this reply to jump on but the Hammer series are the best (not necessarily frightening by modern talents) but from a want- to - be temporarily frightened person.

Holy Smokers ! Canadians never had that show on T.V. at least during the '70s and '80s and couldn't pick him out in a police lineup ! I do know the character though and , if you would'nt mind, give me a little more info on him.
  8. The best performance I've ever seen live was Roger Waters in Tokyo...though the Stones (Voodoo Lounge) would come a close second ! I don't know what it is --perhaps the pressure to play hits, or being out of one's country, but bands seem to give More out -of -country than they do elsewhere. Jaded as we must feel they are, maybe there's something to it ! Hell, We all go wild abroad, right ? ::

Jr. your right, the luftwaffe had been knocked out as an effective force by then (June 6, 1944), at least over the landing beaches. Hey, love your Victorian photo, guessing you might like some of the colonial flicks I mentioned before. Cheers !
  10. Love your entusiasm and hope it satisfies you! However, the Beatles Anthology turned out to be really less than zero--most of these B.S albums are 10(?) second blurbs put out by marketeer who want to eat fans like you. I really hope this is different, however, but I would suggest not being first in line.

for balanced (reasonably) viewing and variety, I would suggest: 98(?) Days at Peking- Charleton Heston Cross of Iron - James Cogburn Tora, Tora, Tora Gallipoli - Mel Gibson

Roger, I'm assuming your joking as there cannot infact be a war on terror---'terror' being an intangible concept and thus as reasonable as a war on god/sloth/wickedness/this damn cold, if you will ,or whatever. If your're going to pick a fight...name your enemy !

'Zulu' or 'Zulu Dawn'-- I think they pitted two types of mankind: one cocky. industrial and sure-footed with that of conservative and content, in a fairly balanced way. One can feel both sympathy and support for either side--which I think is the goal of any balaced war-flick.
  14. Pink Floyd - We don't need no Education Abba - Fernando Devo - Crack that whip The Clash - London Calling the Beatles - Maxwell's Silver Hammer The Stones - Angie Alice Cooper - School's Out Stevie Nicks - White winged dove 10CC - Not in love Marty Balin - Hearts Elvis - In the Ghetto Supertramp - Long Way Home Talking Heads - Pscho Killer U2 - New Year's Day Depeche Mode - Behind the Wheel
  15. For all the Canucks out there, or those familiar with these bands, anyone got a favorite tune or two that takes you back ? :guitar: "Napoleon sheds his skin in the summer when the sun is high. He never knew when to quit , when to stop, or when to say die."
  16. "It was Christmas Eve, babe,... in the drunk tank..." Maybe it's a bit early, but it's always here before you'd like/want. I was thinking that each year there are always xmas compilations for sale, but they rarely contain anything I'd like to see covered, either humorously or seriously. Any thoughts ? Sex pistols- Rudolf the Red Nosed Reindeer Tom Waits- White Christmas Devo- Good King Wenceslas(?)
  17. Thanks, unclejoe. Seems a reasonable enough answer--though edna's answer may be part of it as well . It's just always been a kind of 'elephant-in the -livingroom' thing for me as everyone notices it, I've seen it parodied, but just never heard an explanation before.
  18. I think 'Brothers in Arms' by Dire Straits may be just what your looking for. Celebrates comradeship, duty and sacrifice without glorifying war--usually the sentiment of the day.
  19. Thanks for your feedback, ladies. No, honestly, do you think that is the case ? After songs I've watched him carefully and he dosen't display any of the aforementioned symptoms...what's going on ? ::
  20. I' ve always wondered about Joe Cocker's manic facial and body movements while he is singing. Anyone know or have some input? Are they simply to help bring out his great sound or is there something else ? ::
  21. Having just taken one myself, and without trying to be indelicate here, I was wondering what songs are currently being performed out there ? Just finished a 'lovely' version of ' Angie' and Depeche Mode's 'Personal Jesus'. No requests for an encore were forthcoming, however.

Jimmy Cliff is a legend as well as Sly and Robbie Dunbar. For a more contemporary/ pop sound try Maxi Priest. For a good time, though, I'd recommend The Specials--an early 80's British group.
  23. I was thinking , for example, of 'Baba O'Riley' by The Who .
  24. Any suggestions on favorite songs in which the title and lyrics, at least at first --or still, seem to have no apparent connection ? ::
