  1. I'm with you earth-angel. Don't really wan't to see a simulation of life's real horrors/ or ideas for(by) psychos on the screen. Give me creatures/scenarios etc. that frighten me, but let me smile after hoping that none of us will run into them anytime soon ! When it gets TOO real (or possibly real) , count me out.
  2. As for nuclear holocaust , I'm even more concearned now. Damn Yeltsin ! There's no one in charge of the asylum now.. though Putin's trying to round up the looneys. "Gorby, Gorby, ... what has become of you ? Dosen't anyone else out there feel the way I do ? " :guitar: Yep, checks and balances, think you Yanks are onto something there !
  3. Well, I think we have liking the genre in common ,XXX, as well as having Lee being 'the Man' as kids. I'm with 'ya on Keanu (what kind of dork name is that for starters ?) ruining what, otherwise was a refreshing take on the story -- and ,maybe, closest to Stoker-- minus the love story?
  4. Christopher Lee ? Some call him the ultimate Dracula; he's good, but I'm not completely convinced.
  5. Oh no,,XXX, I don't think I've even come CLOSE to seeing/knowing all there is to horror flicks ! :: And you've got the wrong guy about CGFX. My limited collection of what I call the 'good stuff' is a few sets of Hammer horrors and classic Universals. I do enjoy reading your posts and learning alot about the genre, however. ::
  6. Ilsa, She-Wolf of the SS ! The title/cover alone was reason enough took take a look-- not that I did, of course !
  7. Probably anything by Mott the 'Hoop'le would be inspirational. :guitar:
  8. Never heard this song but it does make me think of one of the coolest (at the time) album names/covers I've ever seen: "Stukas over Disneyland" -- The Dickies (never listened to it though)
  9. I was just going to suggest that if , by chance, he did I could introduce him to some old WWII vets here who spent a LITTLE too much time in New Guinea... :: ::
  10. What !? There's a heck of alot of things to cut here ( and great swords to do it with too, by the way)... but I've yet to see any 'long pigs' ! Do have wild boars, though . Might they suffice ? Cheers !
  11. Thanks Earth-angle/ CD. Think I'll just let the sleeping dog lie, though. :: Looks like an episode of "When Good Punks Go Bad". ::
  12. May I take a moment to inquire as to just what exactly ' emo' refers to ? I've seen it mentioned in other posts as well and I just can't work it out. Please , It's driving me batty ! :
  13. The Great Dictator Casablanca Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein ::
  14. "Gloria" - Laura Brannigan "Bette Davis Eyes" - Kim Carnes Perhaps these ladies had another song or two, but I don't recall ever hearing anything else from them . Definately, at least one of them should have made the list, though ! "And she'll tease you she'll unease you all the better just to please you She's ferocious and she know's just what it takes to make a pro blush All the boys think she's a spy She's got Bette Davis eyes...."
  15. Jackie Brown ! The Godfather Cabaret Fiddler on the Roof Summer of Sam Halloween -- Beware the music ! Can't see this film working without it though. Dr. Chivago(sp?)
  16. Twisted ! But, yeah, your RIGHT ! Or maybe a new marketing slogan for Viagra.
  17. Troy... I wondered if O'Toole's depair at seeing the Greeks run riot was for losing his beloved city or for agreeing to be in this mess of a movie ! It even ended up increasing my respect for the casting/acting in "Clash of theTitans" as far as ancient-themed movies go !
  18. Well..ok, given a little break from it Kelly's Heroes would rock again. I listed it because we have a movie channel here that seems to be playing that movie far too many times and just when I'm tuning in, too. Can really turn me off on a movie quick. Say, not a bad idea for another thread.....
  19. Edna, please call me Kevin , not' Ken' (I've seen this in a couple of posts now) ...you're going to give me a complex like poor Scott has with ...dare I say it ( He may appear at anytime , like the 'Phantom of Songfacts') ...Scoot !? ---Here boy, you out there ?
  20. i've twisted it over for months, but dammit i'm going to buy the "Ed Wood Collection". Blame it on madness or a slight surplus at Xmas but I'm gonna do it. Posters, If you haven't seen Plan 9, or the other 'greats' by Ed Wood ( especially if you've been in a local play and can empyathize), check these out and enjoy!
  21. Ok, Stars Wars was a kind of bait to get a thread bite... but darn it, I still think it ! Glad to see that you still like it ,though. May the force be with you. :: "Watch your mouth kid or we'll all be floating home !"
  22. Edna, Liza's 'marriage' has been over at least since summer. The words may have been nasty but they do somewhat ring true in this case. :: I'm not certain that Elton should be the spokesman for what's wrong with the music industry, but he certainly has earned his right to speak out and his opinions should be considered. Not many have the balls/other or wherewithall to do it. If being a reluctant homosexual/drunkard(past)/ prone to tantrums person is to disqualify one from speaking of their trade and it's negative aspects then there are not many voices left in music to tell the rest of us what's really going on . I know you would'nt hold any of these things against him, nor like him condemning others, perhaps unfairly, in the industry but..hell, let him tell all...after all, it's Elton John !
  23. We've all been in the video store with a friend who's about to grab a movie for the evening that we once respected, but now--just don't wan't to see again. How about a list of films that, in your recollection were great, but upon reviewing, just don't do it for you anymore. Starters: Any of the Sinbad films --love Harryhausen effects but the acting..!? Hammmer's "the horror of Dracula" --used to think this was THE vampire flick but now it's just a drawn out chse scene. "Easy Rider" --some wines just don't age well. Seems so pointless now. "Star Wars" -- kind of wish the empire would get them and put us out of our misery. "Jaws" -- this only works once ! "Kelly's Heros" -- hippies in WWII ?
  24. Maybe the climax of "Alien", where Ripley starts stripping down thinking it's all over while the alien is lurking --sexy,vulnerable and scary ! Also, that scene in Pink Floyd's "The Wall" where Bob Geldoff approaches a crouching person in an asylum or somewhere, and they turn around and it's HIM --stark-raving mad ! Great freak-out. :: Definately the scene mentioned multiple times in "Salem's Lot" (check this out if you haven't seen it) as well as the '70's remake of "Dracula" --Frank Langella ( the disco vampire) where the vampire hunters encounter Lucy in the crypt after she has just fed (suppossedly on children, no less) ! Yikes ! ::
