  1. I'll add "An Occasional Dream" by Bowie.
  2. I'm not sure, but what the heck...after all, how many New Year's songs are there anyway??
  3. We have New Years Rockin' Eve with Regis this year, but I'd rather program my own music. any good New Years songs? Ding Dong Ding Dong - George Harrison Another Auld Lang Syne - Dan Fogelberg New Years Day - U2 Auld Lang Syne - Jimi Hendrix (if you haven't heard it, imagine Jimi doing Auld Land Syne the same way he did The Star Spangled Banner at Woodstock) Any others??
  4. I would suggest....Drowse by Queen, Dreamweaver by Gary Wright, Dream On by Aerosmith, Number 9 Dream by John Lennon, The Dream Police by Cheap Trick, etc :sleepy:
  5. Geez, I love Bryan Ferry and Roxy Music. I didn't know about that album....maybe Santa will intercept this posting and bring it to me. Thanks
  6. George's position in the group allowed him a couple songs per album, still he was quite prolific: Blue Jay Way Don't Bother Me For You Blue Here Comes The Sun I Me Mine I Need You I Want To Tell You If I Needed Someone It's All Too Much Long Long Long Love You Too Old Brown Shoe Onlu A Northern Song Piggies Savoy Truffle Something Taxman The Inner Light Think For Yourself While My Guitar Gently Weeps Within You Without You You Like Me Too Much Four of these (Here Comes The Sun, Taxman, Something, While My Guitar...) have become rock standards. so in sheer volume it isn't up to Paul/John...but it's pretty darn impressive. :guitar: :happybanana:
  7. I'm partial to Lennon then Harrison then Paul. George wrote "Something" which may still be the most covered Beatles song.
  8. When the price of a barrel of oil goes up....gas prices go up immediately. When the price of a barrel drops...gas prices follow...two months later!!! Same concept...cash rules all.
  9. Sorry.......I just cut 'em and paste 'em. You need to complain to the Associated Press. However, you are correct! :guitar:
  10. Midnight Confession is perfect. How about "Have You Ever Loved a Woman", Derek and the Dominos. "Don't Stand So Close To Me", The Police. "My Best Friend's Girl" , the Cars. ::
  11. LONDON - Stolen gold and silver discs won by Ozzy Osbourne's band Black Sabbath were recovered Wednesday after thieves dumped them behind trash cans. The discs were reported missing last week after a burglary at the home of Osbourne's former manager Patrick Meehan, in southeastern England. Kent Police said an anonymous tip had led them to the eight discs, found in a plastic bag dumped behind recycling bins. Two other discs stolen in the haul — which included the albums "Master of Reality," "Paranoid" and "Volume 4" — had already been returned after being offered for sale on Internet auction site eBay. Osbourne, who earned fame as a heavy metal rocker in the 1970s, was a victim of burglars himself last month. He unsuccessfully attempted to tackle thieves who broke into his Buckinghamshire mansion, west of London, and made off with valuable jewelry.
  12. I didn't know about the new release. Thanks. I saw him play in New York a couple times. I remember he played Shea Stadium, in the pouring rain, as the 1st act. Robin Trower played next then Tull. the rain come down in buckets all show.
  13. I heard Styx is putting out an album of favorite cover songs next year. The New York radio stations have been playing the cover of "I Am The Walrus". I gotta tell you, it's pretty good. You wouldn't know it was Styx until maybe the last chorus of the song. Otherwise it's a true to the original cover. BTW, my favorite album of cover songs is "Pin-Ups" by David Bowie. He covers the Yardbirds, Kinks, Pink Floyd, Pretty Things....I love it. The CD version had extras that the LP didn't including some Springsteen. :guitar:
  14. I think Elvis was just toyin' with them from the great beyond.
  15. "In My Life" The Beatles "Drowse" Queen "Honey" Bobby Goldsboro "Have You Ever Loved A Woman" Derek & The Dominos "Reflections of my Life" Marmalade "Some Girls" Stones "God Knows I'm Good" Bowie
  16. Try "The Seven Seas of Rhye" by Queen. You want the version on Queen II.
  17. Dick Dale is still cranking up the reverb and making me dream of the beach. He deserves something for that. Ever see the movie Back To The Beach. Dick and SRV trading riffs on Pipeline.
  18. Billy called in to the New York Classic rock station this morning as part of a charity event. He said the traveling company was booked for a year. Another company was opening the show in Vegas and another in Europe. Not too shabby.
  19. I can listen to Bowie's "Cracked Actor" from Aladdin Sane, almost endlessly. Mick Ronson puts out three minutes or sheer guitar power. I vote this the hardest three minutes of classic rock.
  20. It's not as good as actually seeing Bowie as Ziggy (one benefit of my age) but it does a great job capturing the theatrics. Back in the 70's there were three great shows that has live acts on each week. They were "In Concert", "The Midnight Special" and "Don Kirshner's Rock Show (or something like that)" I saw Bowie perform "The 1980 Floor Show" as Ziggy there after i had seen it live. Great stuff.
  21. Ziggy Stardust The Movie. Bowie and Spiders made their last stand on July 3rd (I think), 1973. This is the final show for Ziggy when Bowie announces , "Not only is this the last show of the tour, but, it's the last show that we'll ever do". The horrified fans at The Hammersmith Odeon shriek at the thought. It has been so long since I saw this, but I know Jeff Beck joins Bowie and spiders for Jean Genie. I had a bootleg of this from the time I was a teener, then they put out the movie and the soundtrack.
  22. I can't play "Think for Yourself" loud enough in my car. Paul is an under-rated bassist. As a matter of fact, all of the Beatles seem to show up on under-rated lists...which is wrong, but put them together....magic!!
  23. Then bring out the Head & Shoulders...
  24. I consider myself a Monkee's fan, but "Head" was unwatchable as far as I'm concerned. Lot's of folks wanted to make psychedelically enhanced artistic statements back then....many failed and this was one of the failures.
