  1. Grace Jones... I never liked her, she scared me too with her chicken dress and the Jean-paul Goude influence... I like very much Tracy Chapman, she´s not pretending anything, she´s sure of herself and a real good singer. I like her style and she´s very discreet. I don´t think female singers must be sex-bombs, at least not all of them...
  2. John Lennon was violent, impulsive and also very snob, he loved to "épater le bourgeois", like they say in french. Yet he was aware of all his bad habits and was always fighting within himself and against himself to be a right guy. I think his good side is so huge that we can forget that he was maybe a commie for a while, a commie living in the Dakota and riding in limousines... (or so he said when it was trendy to be so), or even a supporter of the Black panthers and other things like that. And he was a genius. And thank you, John Lennon, you were my english teacher! You´ve sweetened my early days!.
  3. Lou Reed has two albums I like very much: "Transformer" & "Coney Island Baby".
  4. "I´ve been hurt"- Tommy James & the Shondells. "Lucretia McGivern"- Blood, Seat & Tears "Look what you´ve done" -Rolling Stones Good luck!!!
  5. I found in another forum a thread about "Grace Slick or Janis Joplin?"... how could I choose? Janis is the best and Grace is my best...
  6. "Eight Miles High" -The Byrds... I was sure miamisammy would have said "Seven days" -Ron Wood.
  7. "Six rivers to cross" -Sammy Davies, Jr.
  8. UncleJoe gave me a good idea: "Modern Love", David Bowie (never gonna fall for Modern Love)
  9. "Fourth Time Around" -Bob Dylan
  10. Well, I admit my friends tell me not to speak so clear...
  11. I can´t post some of my rock critics from ten years ago... that´s how far my creativity goes! I never wrote a poem nor a song... but this is the place for those who do. Keep on posting, please!
  12. You are right, TP, I agree with you! We the human mankind (well, me, at least...) trust you, all american people, and count on you to vote for the right one. It´s no joke, I live in Europe and people don´t know how important is for all the world to have a good prez in America. Maybe it´s coz I´m french, mainly coz my mother´s family are jews... I love America, I can´t forget you liberated us from the nazis. And America still rules the waves, so please folks, vote and vote you know who.

Oh, just in case some of you are interested in it, it´s a BoneyM album where they cover "Sunny"... I think I´ll get into my neighboor´s place and steal his record... I´m not a fan of Giorgio Moroder sound, I´m most rock and roll...but I admit that this cover is terrific!!!

TP and BB, I just love you! You found it for me! I have some trouble with allmusic, seems my mac is old fashioned or something... hope I have my new house and new internet connection and my husband fixes all this for me soon... Thank you very much!!!
  18. OK, I found it, my friend remembers it´s Boney M, and it´s not Brown girl in the rain but "in the ring". Thanks everybody!
  19. There was another song my neighboor danced all over yesterday, it´s "brown girl in the rain, tra la la la la, brown girl in the rain, tralalala, she looks like a???... show me a motion, tralalala, etc". Couldn´t find it in the web... It´s very well known, at least in Europe, it might be some disco-hit of the 70s, maybe by the same who sang "Down the rivers of babylone". Help me...
  20. Yesterday night my upstairs neighboor held a one-man-party, he put a great version of "Sunny" over and over, I could feel him dancing for an hour:doh:...it wasn´t the original, but it sounded fantastic. Pls, can you tell me if there´s a cover with horns and very popish? And who sang the original? Google gives me all kind of covers but I don´t know who made it a hit...
  21. Very good site once again, BB!! We should give you a special bonus star!
  22. Try this site: www.ondarock.it/Velvet_eng.html
  23. I tried Google and couldn´t find it. There are many versions of that song, Elvis, Jim Nabors, Don Gibson... but not the band you mentionned. I´ll try later with other lyrics tracker. Meanwhile, maybe someone remembers.
