Elvis was my great-aunts favorite singer(my grandmother's sister), her daughter's favorite, my mother's favorite, and if not my favorite, I still enjoy his songs and yeah watching that sexy body and hearing that sexy voice. He crossed all age barriers, and no one will ever do the same.

You know edna, we can't do that. Bush has almost all outr resources tied up in Iraq. Although he denies it, the National Guard (the entity that should be coming to the aid of new Orleans)is extrememly depleted here at home. I don't mean to question any Iraq decisions, but we have to be able to care for our home! All in all it's just not right. I've become so depressed over this situation. My Aunt is there, and although I now know she's physically ok, she is within walking distance of New Orleans(maybe 20 miles, across the causeway) and I fear displaced people will be looking for any dry spot, with a roof, water and food. Her son is with her now, and I hope he will be able to convince her to leave, as we now know it will be months before she has power again. He cannot stay forever, and I would truly fear for her safety. Sorry, this has nothing to do with TV, although it started with that TV special. Carry on...

Jr I watched the same show and had exactly the same feelings. Didn't it just seem, no matter how good the intentions, and these people had a vested interest in this situation, that it was just not enough? Obviously nothing will be enough. I keep thinking about 9/11. The entire country rallied at a moments notice. We see what went into this tonight. No matter how good the intentions, it's not enough. I don't know when we get actual numbers, but the scope of this disaster far outweighs 9/11. The death toll mey turn out to not be as great, but when you think about it, in some cases these peoples have lost thier lives as much as if they had died. asome optimists will come back fine, but some were so frustrated and depressed to begin with, they may never recover. We may be losing an entire major US city. At least 9/11 was contained to certain areas. I'm not ashamed to say I shed more than a few tears this week. My tears and pennies are not enough. But with enough people...The American people will prevail I believe if it's inspite of our government!

There is one thing a lot of people don't realize. It's fine for other countries to offer thier help. Wonderful in fact. The thing is, unless the US extends a formal plea for help(we have to ask for it)we are prohibited from accepting any. So no matter what the citizens think, no matter how much the legislators may want it, until the President makes a formal plea, thier will be no help from anyone. This was discussed on one of the news shows(I'm right there with you marc, with news)and I was really shocked. What the heck is wrong with Bush? I'm sure it's not his decision alone, but c'mon!

I don't care for celebrity movies that supposedly have "new information" never before released. If it's really new and accurate information, then why aren't the authorities involved? I will probably watch however, just out of curiosity.

Yeah jr, in some cases it does. Guess what? Announced today, they're going to be in my area Jan 27th. Well thanks a lot. I could've saved a lot of money. This is a major trip for me though. Thanks to bazooka, I have checked out a box set of cd's by Bodiddly. While I was aware of individual songs, I had never heard entire cd's or read his bio. He is most certainly the father of "the sound" "the beat", what ever you want to call it. You can hear snatches(samples) of his sound, those riffs, and beats in so many artists both past and current. Everyone from Buddy Holly, to the Stones, Eric Clapton and untold others. I'm Goin' Home by Alvin Lee and Ten Years After sounds suspiciously like Down Home Special by Bodiddly. George Thourogood's music is full of the Bodiddly sound. All in all, listening to these cd's and reading the bio was worth my time, and definatly taught me something. I'm sure Mr bazooka can enlighten me more!!!

ok I'll give it a shot. I certainly can't do any worse than baseball. I figure I'll never learn unless I try. Plus I need things to fill my excess time! The nice thing is It apparently doesn't need as much attention.

Ah, thank you S2V! The artificial heart. I knew it was something important. You seem to have much the same memories as I. Red Skelton was a man I truly admired, along with loving the show. A sweet, gentle man. He was born in Vincennes Indiana, close to the town my family is from. Walt Disney and The Wonderful World of Disney is another show (and man)I greatly loved. I would plop down on the floor, and there would be Tinkerbell flying around the castle, putting her own little exclamation point at the top of the castle turret. Then Walt himself would appear, in his office, telling us what we were going to see that night, always perched on the corner of his desk. I dearly loved Davy Crockett, and Pollyanna and her glad game! You must then remember the premier of All In The Family. I do. I was with my grandparents at the time. How shocking in the days of such innocence! Thanks for the memories S2V (and you know who said that!) ::

Oh yeah unc!! I loved Felix the Cat, but you know I honestly don't remember Howdy Doody although I'm old enough to. Paul Winchell was the puppeteer for Jerry Mahoney and his freckled buck toothed friend (can't remember his name). Paul Winchell was famous for something else, but I can't remember what. How about Red Skelton? I loved him!!! :: The skits were great, and he always thanked the audience for thier time and winded up the show with.."and may God Bless". Such a sweet man. A talented painter too!

Am I the only person who watched Soupy Sales as a kid? The Jerry Mahoney Show? Kukla Fran and Ollie(that one can stay gone, I thought it was dorky when I was 6)? Captain Kangaroo? I loved them!!
