  1. I have Tommy which I love, and Endless Wire which i'm not very keen on. I also have(where have= took from my parents) My Generation: The Very Best of The Who. As far as songs...i know what's on those, as well as a few random others that are likely to be played on the radio.
  2. So, last night i was listening to The Who and realised that I had forgotten how much I love those guys. So I thought I'd start a topic on them What are people's favourite songs/albums? And what would you recommend I should listen to?
  3. Heya, I'm looking for songs about the news or media, pretty much anything about or with lyrics about news, headlines etc You guys are awesome so i know you can help me! Ash
  4. i saw Dizzee Rascal live the other day and would definitely recommend him
  5. ugh...i can't say i've ever been a fan of maths...apparently it's quite useful...but i pretty much ignore that fact. I threw pretty much anything considered "useful" out the door as soon as i could...i really didn't get on well with maths and science... So what i'm tossing up is pretty much whether or not to take law...on one hand...only 300 out of over 1000 who studied it in the first year got into second year so i kinda did alright in it...but then...it's law...which i'm not sure is me...
  6. so i'm having trouble trying to decide what to study and do this year...so was wondering...what do you songfactors do for a living and how was it that you made the decision to do that? or how you ended up there if it wasn't a decision? ...oh yeah...and laurie, i'd go to a salon, especially if you are thinking of going lighter
  7. yeah...this article was written by the newspaper of the photographer...so it's a little biased...i think others have reported it as an "alleged attack" rather than a certain "assault" i'm not sure what the circumstances were seeming as they haven't released video footage or anything but if the photographer was being in her face then that's just rude...and sucks seeming as it's not something you'd expect from that newspaper. ...i find it really weird that he was wearing a skivvy considering it is the middle of summer here and all...
  8. I saw Hairspray for the first time the other day and I would definitely give it 10/10...there's no way you can watch that movie and not be in a great mood by the end. I also saw The Golden Compass which I liked but didn't love...I really need to read the books again.

    exams

yup cramming works wonders...usually i get really behind by the end of semester and use that time to read stuff that i was already supposed to read. I really do try to keep on top of things but i find that when i'm all calm and organised I end up doing worse than when i'm stressing my little heart out cramming the night before and morning of the exam...i need stress. I also procrastinate something awful...the last exam i sat...almost all my study was the night and morning before...then i gave up about midday and checked my emails and beboed friends... The whole year is set up differently here though...so i don't have exams now...but when you guys are on your summer breaks or whatever i will probably be having them...ugh

  11. Bjork assaults news photographer 5:00AM Monday January 14, 2008 By Beck Vass Iceland's singing and songwriting sensation Bjork attacked a Herald photographer on her arrival at Auckland International Airport yesterday. This is the second time the singer has attacked a journalist - the last time was in 1996 after a long flight to Thailand. Bjork, who is in Auckland to perform at the Big Day Out on Friday, tore photographer Glenn Jeffrey's shirt in half, after he photographed her arriving at 7.50am yesterday. Jeffrey, a news photographer of 25 years, said Bjork was accompanied by a man who asked him not take photographs. "I took a couple of pictures and I got about three or four frames of her ... and as I turned and walked away she came up behind me, grabbed the back of my black skivvy and tore it down the back. "As she did this she fell over, she fell to the ground. At no stage did I touch her or speak with her." Bjork said nothing throughout the incident but the man with her was saying: "B, don't do this, B, don't do this,"' Jeffrey said. Jeffrey spoke to Auckland police yesterday. He said: "I don't see being assaulted as I'm working as a press photographer as an acceptable thing. "If anybody assaults anybody you have the right to a legal recourse, whoever they are." A spokeswoman for Auckland International Airport said staff would review video footage if police requested it. The incident bears the hallmarks of another attack, in 1996, during which Bjork famously attacked a reporter after a long flight to Thailand. She later apologised for the attack, which is now posted on the YouTube website. New Zealand Herald
  12. What does the "switch to full reply" button do?
  13. i woke up yesterday morning with hardout muscle cramp in my left calf and the muscle is still tense and sore now ...i have a music fest thing on friday...so it better go away soon.
  14. Here it's 18...and while it was frustrating while I was 17 at uni but unable to get into clubs and bars i do think it's about right. If you can vote you should be able to drink. Of course there still is a lot of under age drinking but i'm not quite sure how any country could avoid that.
  15. I love to listen to Ice Ice Baby by Vanilla Ice We have a cd at work that plays it and it always makes me laugh...and then there's the lyrics... "Quick to the point, to the point no faking I'm cooking MCs like a pound of bacon"
  16. When i was in Spain i listened to a station called Europa FM...we never actually changed the station on the radio to see what else there was. But everyday at about the same time they would play Wonderwall by Oasis...which was kind of nice...but kind of strange at the same time. That's the problem with radio though...it's always repetitive and with something like a classic rock station you will rarely hear something that you've never heard before or even that you've never heard on that station that same week. And with new music stations new singles saturate the airwaves and are repeated every hour or so which is just plain frustrating. I've heard that bfm, an indie/alternative station we have here is quite good...but i generally just stick to cds.
  17. Yup i'm going to next years one...also went to this years and last years...coz it really is worth the price considering that it is a whole day of live music for about the price of a single concert really. I loved this years one, although for me it was more about seeing Muse and The Violent Femmes.
  18. headbutting would hurt you as much as the other...i think a good kick would work much better.
  19. yes lol...i think i've been slightly stretched...but it's me
  20. It's almost 2008 and i still have no idea what i am doing aarrrghh! Somehow i managed to get through 2007 living in degree limbo, studying for two degrees, taking a range of subjects and keeping my options wide open. But now i actually have to make a decision...something i am not good at...
  21. I don't know if anyone's mentioned this...but Labyrinth has got to be the best muppet movie ever...especially with songs like Magic Dance
  22. I actually like High School Musical ...my excuse is that I'm a girl and as a girl I am allowed to like anything soppy and cheesy...but it is actually a sweet little movie...the sequel not so much...although that lead actors commitment to maintaining over-the-top facials will always amuse me. As for this musicals list...i'm not quite understanding why the South Park movie is on there...i mean i guess technically it IS a musical...but i would never have thought of it as one. What i love from the list is Singin' In The Rain...which i studied this year and will never get sick of, Mary Poppins, Grease, and The Wizard of Oz. Would have loved to see Rocky Horror there...also Moulin Rouge althoug i understand it's a bit arty for some people's tastes.
  23. what are some songwriters thinking??...we play this song at work...and the lyric goes "your love is like a good quality wine" ...what is that supposed to mean?? it just sounds so bad ugh Also...does anyone actually listen to disco these days...i ask because it has been disco fever at the shoeshop i work at lately with one of the manager playing her cds...and i just don't understand why?
