  1. Gillian, join us in the KISS Army. You get neat stuff! (or at least you did back in 1978, anyway)
  2. It depends on the date's musical tastes, doesn't it? It can work the other way, as well. I dated a girl when I was in my early twenties that went weak in the knees if I played Candy-O. That album,(yes, album) was her aphrodisiac.
  3. By the way....this is a great thread. I've enjoyed it.
  4. Ahem.....ladies and gentlemen....I'd like to announce right now, for the next 39 days, Scott is going to be snippy. It will get worse before it gets better. Please do not take it personally, he's just waiting for some music. Let's all bow our heads together and pray he makes it. By the way, I waited at least 10 years for the 3rd Boston album to come out. We've got ten.....do we hear eleven??!! *tap*tap...Is this thing on?
  5. Political!!?? (in the voice of the doorman on the Wizard of Oz) Well why didn't ya say so!!?? The mother of all Viet Nam songs is Country Joe McDonald and the Fish, "The Fish Song" One verse is, Come on all of you big strong men, Uncle Sam needs your help again. Got himself in a terrible jam Way down yonder in Viet Nam Be the first one one your block To have your boy come home in a box Or something to that effect.
  6. I find that when I'm on the treadmill, most Motown has nearly the same tempo. It's very easy to burn an 80 minute cd with a bunch of songs that you won't have to change speeds on.
  7. This isn't a song or artist, but Woodstock was like a big end of decade bash. I think the artists, the fans, the place, the time, the moon, stars, galaxy, etc, all lined up for 3 days, and created one big harmonious hug. It was the culmination of a decade of change. Too bad the 70's had to come along and ruin it.
  8. Powderfinger ~ Neil Young "Look out mama, there's a white boat comin' up the river" What a great song.
  9. Billy Jack was a bad dude. "I'm going to put this foot...on that side of your face....and you know what?....There's not a damn thing you can do about it.
  10. I remember not being able to sleep the night before KISS Destroyer came out. I was around 12 or so. I was in the infancy of my love affair with music and I loved KISS so much, they could have probably released an album of random guitar tuning, and I would have loved it. While it's one of their best, I still like Dressed to Kill best. I know, I know, "You like KISS? They SUCK!" It's not like I've never heard it before. Are they great song writers? No. Mostly Gene Simmons write about sex sex sex, and Paul Stanley isn't much better. Their musicianship isn't going to get them on any 'greatest' lists, either. But I loved them just the same. So did every other kid my age at the time. What's cool, though, is I had all their stuff on album, and when I converted to cd, I never replaced them. So I didn't listen to them for like, 10 years. Then one day I bought Rock and Roll Over out of the bargain bin, and it was all fresh again. Over the following year, I eventually replaced all their stuff, and now, I'll burn a "new" cd every six months or so. Sometimes, just mixing up the order of songs give a cd an entirely different ambience. Anyway, sorry for going on a little "in defense of KISS" tangent. I guess I got carried away. When you enlist in the KISS Army, it's for life, I guess. KISS RULES!! SHOUT IT OUT LOUD!! Oh...ahem..sorry....never saw that coming.
  11. I defy anyone to top that. In baseball terms, that's known as a walk off homer, folks.
  12. Aerosmith ~ Permanent Vacation. After that, they took a permanent vacation from being Boston's Bad Boys to being Corporate poster boys. Tyler went from 'being' Steven Tyler to 'look at me, I'm being Steven Tyler' Phil Collins ....don't know the exact time, but it was when he started writing exclusively for Disney soundtracks. One long, bad song. Ditto Elton John.
  13. I've been laughed at because of my fondness for "Love will keep us together". I don't care. It's a great song. It's catchy, and if you listen to just one part at a time, it's very well done, musically.
  14. I think you mat be confusing it with "Do you really want to hurt me"
  15. outstanding, my fellow KISS freak.
  16. I heard this on the radio at work today. "So, anything interesting happen on your trip?"
  17. Ok, this should be easy for all you music fans. I was listening to the U of D staion on the way home, and heard a great song, but I don't know the name. Here's what I have: I think it's called "Oh Leah" I'm pretty sure it's from the 80's Towards the end, the over lapping vocals ars saying "here we go again (go again, go again)" No idea who the artist is, as the University's station has no djs, it's all music(which is nice)
  18. LOL. That's pretty funny, my fellow KISS freak.
  19. Sure there is. It's all effects and pedals and such. I've seen him first hand, maybe 10 feet away. Nothing impressive, just a bunch of smoke and mirrors. Welcome to Songfacts.
  20. I stand corrected. I have a compilation cd that says Swing Swing Swing, though.
  21. I hate to be a stickler, but it's Swing Swing Swing. And , yes, it is hard to sit still when it starts. Then the horns kick in. Top notch.
  22. Great Balls of Fire - Jerry Lee Lewis Soak up the Sun - Sheryl Crow The Lion Sleeps Tonight - The Crew Cuts ( I think)
