  1. Obviously, there's the DJ. But even that, in the classic sense of the word, rarely exsists. They're just personalities with the music all programmed out for them. They never comment on how good a song is, or anything like that. Studio musician is the gig i'd want.
  2. Any song by Shania Twain.
  3. I am by no means defending the commercialization of Christmas, but the advertiser's job is to push their product, not the birth of Christ. The public in general, is so afraid of religion nowadays, what with everyone 'feelings' being hurt, and everyone being 'offended' by everything, the religious aspect of Christmas has been phased completely out of the public eye. But once you walk through the door to your home, it becomes a private matter, and that's where we, as a people, make our decision what Christmas is truly about.
  4. That's odd, coming from you. A direct hit on my funny bone.
  5. No, no , no. I was just fooling with you. Bluesy's our historian around here. Also one of the most easy going cats at Songfacts. If you're big on jazz, you and he should have some interesting discussions. I think it's safe to say his collection takes up most of San Diego.
  6. Oh my. Someone questions the guru. This is not good.
  7. Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble Big surprise, huh?
  8. December 3 1966 - Ray Charles is convicted of possessing heroin and marijuana, given a five-year suspended sentence and fined $10,000. 1971 - Montreux Casino in Switzerland burns down during a Frank Zappa gig. Ian Gillan, vocalist of Deep Purple, who was recording in close proximity, is inspired to write the classic "Smoke On The Water" about the incident. 1977 - "Mull of Kintyre" by Wings, led by Paul McCartney, becomes McCartney's first post-Beatles No. 1 single in Britain. The bagpipe-accompanied song becomes Britain's best selling single, eclipsing The Beatles' "I Want to Hold Your Hand." 1979 - Eleven audience members are trampled to death at a concert headlined by the Who at Riverfront Coliseum, Cincinnati. It is drummer Kenney Jones' first tour with the Who. Drummer Keith Moon died three months before. 1986 - A lawsuit is filed against the group Judas Priest and CBS Records, alleging two fans shot themselves after listening to the band's music for six hours. I figured I'd better post something in the thread I started before I got yelled at.
  9. Yes, from the smash album, Pyromania, their hit single "Phonograph".
  10. I didn't. It just popped into my head. Weird. Wasn't there a band in the 80's actually called 'The Cheerleaders'? If so, do they count?

    Help Us Out

    Ah, Watson....The game's afoot..
  12. I don't know what year it came out, but I remember riding in my cousin's car (I wasn't old enough to drive) and all he played all summer was 'Songs in the Key of Life'
  13. I have absolutely nothing to add. I just like being around Gis and Sue. :: I, too, am home, hanging around with the Songfactors. Spamming.
  14. Eddie Van Halen scrapes a beer bottle down the neck of the guitar to get the 'whooshing effect' in the song. That's a fact. I heard him say it in an interview. Sweet City Woman ~ The Stampeders
  15. I just saw a bunch of those things at Walmart today while I was Christmas shopping after work. I ended up buying myself a ten pack of blank cds. And that was it.
  16. I've not understood anything for the last 25 posts.
  17. Commercialism and religion aside, there's something I'd like to say. The pure innocence of a child's wide eyes when they get up Christmas morning, and freeze at the end of the hallway..."He came! He was here!". That whole hearted belief in something so good, right in your own home is something a lot of people miss. You've got to look at your child. See their innocence and their pure acceptance that it's real. Tuck that away, keep it.
