    The "Old" Songfacts Gang

Hi All ! I haven;t been here for a long time, mostly because I'm still fairly computer illiterate and I have trouble negotiating the Site. It's good to see some of my great Mates here. Hope you all had a happy Christmas and have a wonderful 2019. Here's a photo of my whole Family taken on Christmas Day. I'm at the back - now OLD 78.

  2. A cop calls in to report a shooting on his radio: " It appears that an elderly woman shot her husband because he walked across the floor she just mopped" Captain: "Well did you arrest her?" Cop: "Not yet sir, the floor is still wet"

  3. We learned through his Facebook that Joe died today. His son posted a sad and warm text. I don't know if I should copy and paste or just let people say how much they loved him. I'll leave it up to you. My very first post in Songacts, was in 2004. My first answer was sweet UncleJoe's... ❤️ ❤️

  4. I was wondering if any of the old Songfacts gang (you know who you are) checks in to the site much these days. Every once in while I come back searching for you guys but come up empty. It was a vibrant and crazy place when we all joined close to 15 years ago and it remained that way for a long time. Frankly I miss it. If any of you stop by, leave a comment. I'd love to know how you guys are doing. RonJonSurfer (Ron)

  5. Joe was a steadfast SF rock, always had a kind or funny word. A gentle soul. Although he refused to ever wear pants, that's one of the things we loved about him. So sad, not to mention shocked, to hear of his passing. He'll always be remembered as one of the Songfacts OGs, a true original. ❤️

  6. (Amazing that I still remembered my password here!) Was referred to this page by a link provided by Edna on the news of the passing of Uncle Joe, which is devastating. But I am glad to find this thread and read names I recall fondly. I think of the old Songfacts gang often. My wife and I moved from Brazil to America 4 1/2 years ago, bought a motor home and have now travelled the nation since, until grounded in Louisiana for the past year by Covid. Since March, have been visiting friends and family in Brazil. Will return to the USA in May where we plan to get back on the road. Still write poetry from time to time and am always taking photos. If anyone is interested, when we came to America in November of 2016, my wife and I started a FaceBook page/blog Rondi's Great Adventure. Like or follow that page and when we head your way, would love to stop in to see you. Plan to see Marc (remember him?) next fall when passing near L.A. Blessings on each and every one of you. Joe At Forks In The Road We met early, like a Monday; by Friday we were friends Neither one suspecting that this week might one day end Bound by forks we chose; or agreed to build together Exploring with a faith that love shared grows forever Longtime friend, true chum, old mate, one same as a brother Whatever friendship offers; it’s found within the other Sharing better natures, our guide is that yet shared Quiet when required; listening whispers, “Cared.” Never fearing experience nor dependencies allowed In resilient terms, with bonds of steel, devoted and avowed Thank you, friend, for lessons learned by staying on that road And as the trail winds to its peak, your back that shared my load

I didn't join 15 years ago, but I do my best to *bump* the "All Things Music" subset. Ever since Last.fm terminated all forums and fan posts, I've been hanging out here to see if there is "Life on Mars." (It seems to be very sparse.) Folks in search of Music on the Interweb don't have many choices these days, between "Buy 'N Large" (Apple) or "We Think You Like This?" (Spotify). For really obscure music, I sometimes drop by CD Baby, if a "Toy Cows in Africa"-like track catches my eye/ear on YouTube. So now I travel the "Roads to Moscow" while "Dancing in the Moonlight," on the way to "Scarborough Fair.";) Patrick Abe

  16. Hi from just over 10 years in the future. I belive the answer to your question is L'Amour toujours (I'll fly with you) by DJ Gigi D'Agostino.

  17. I like having defensive players in Kevin, for exactly the reason you mentioned, it's just kind of fun to move them around and see how many extra points you can garnish.. I'd missed that. I'm ready to go, hopefully my football team is slightly better than my baseball team this year. Good luck everybody!!

  20. Uncle Joe was surely one of the good guys. Always funny and friendly to everyone. (Thank you to Edna for letting me know about UJ's passing). You know, this Topic is like an actual wake. You don't see family and friends for years until somebody dies...then you realize you miss them all. I do miss you guys.

  21. Y'all thought you'd got rid of me But my life is meaningless without my Fin and Farin. Coming back here reminds me of all our time together, and makes me a bit sad. I don't know where they are (or even if they're still alive???) but I hope they're happy. (Joined at 17, now 32 and living a life i never imagined for myself !)

    Cave in Hall of Fame

[big]Cave enters Aria Hall of Fame on his own terms[/big] [smallest]October 29, 2007[/smallest] [smaller]Source [/smaller] SINGER Nick Cave has accepted his induction into the Aria Hall of Fame, but it was on his own terms. The Australia-born songwriter last week said he was "dreading" tonight's induction during the annual music awards. But on the night, he was gracious in accepting the honour. However, there were a couple of conditions - that his band mates from The Bad Seeds and his former band The Birthday Party be inducted as well. "I cannot really accept this until we get a few things straight," Cave told the crowd at Sydney's Acer Arena. "What I can't figure out is why I am up here and The Bad Seeds aren't? "I would like to do a bit of inducting myself." Cave then thanked the members of The Band Seeds and The Birthday Party, the 1970s Melbourne gothic rock band which launched his career, for all their work with him over the years. "I would like to, by the power vested in me, induct these people also into the Aria Hall of Fame." Cave also thanked his mother, his wife Susie Bick and four sons. Later, he told reporters there were a few other Australians artists he would like to see join him in the select club. "Is Kylie in there?"asked Cave, who recorded the duet Where The Wild Roses Grow with Kylie Minogue in 1996. "She f---ing well should be!" AAP And there's a slightly older article on his reluctance . (I wanted to make the title something to do with "Cave" and "Hall", but I'm not as good as RJ at these things. Any suggestions?)

I do too. Made many deep connections and lasting relationships. This is still a good place to drop a thought, and we'll still be here.

  28. I was wondering if anyone out there knows the meaning of Stevie Wonder's 1982 hit Ribbon in the Sky? I love that song; it has its own meaning to me, but is there a general one most people use? Thanks for your help!

    Song/Video of the day

Thirty years ago, Kelly DeLima formed "Kapena," a "Brownbags to Stardom" contest Kaimuki high school band that went on to bigger and better things. Brothers Tivaini and Teimomi Tatofi returned to Tonga to start families, and Kelly eventually got his kids to play. A reunion happened recently, and local music program "Hi Sessions" recaptured that old Reggae magic. Who/what is "Kapena"? What is "Masese" about? So, what else did Kapena do?

Sorry Kevin. Blue has been doing that to me all year. I was always 1 minute late. I like the playoff format. BTW; It seems like an awful amount of injuries this year. My team is different every week.

What do I have to do!!! 7 freaking touchdowns from Brees and I still lose! Guess it's a team game, and if there's nobody catching TDs, you're still vulnerable.

An excellent call, Kevin. I have always hated the "no cut" rule. How often do stars get injured in football? It does not make any sense to be stuck with them if they can't contribute to your team.

    Jim Morrison

I just finished reading No One Here Gets Out Alive, Jim Morrison's biography. Wonderful Read by the way. Anyway, just wondering about what people think about his death. No Autopsy, No Doctor or Police Signature, No-one saw his dead body but Pamela Courson. Apparently. Is he really dead?
