I've been in Sacramento, CA on business for 3 of the last 4 weeks. I may be here a lot more too. So, I saw that Gordon Lightfoot is playing at an old art deco theatre called the Crest on the 14th. How can I not go?Never saw him in concert. He's 78 years old. May be my last chance.

I see Roger Waters is at the Golden 1 Center on this coming Monday. Ticket prices aren't too crazy, but I may pass on that show.

	Otherwise known as "kinda Yes".

John Anderson gave us a great interview a few years ago where it became clear that the songs still hold deep connections for him, and performing them is a way for him to relive the journey with the audience. That's what he did when I saw ARW on Friday night. It was like re-reading a really good book and remembering those lessons learned.

Rabin was a driving force in '80s Yes, so "Owner Of A Lonely Heart" got an extended play. That's one of the songs Jon doesn't have much affinity for, but musically, it served its purpose.

Now that James Brown is no longer with us, Rick Wakeman is probably the only guy who can earnestly wear a cape even before Halloween (he is after all, a keyboard wizard). Not a great photo, but what he's wearing in this shot stayed on for the whole show.
Going to see Jeff Lynne and ELO on Friday night at Radio City. By all accounts and the reviews from last weekend at the Hollywood Bowl...this is an amazing show. I last saw ELO in the 70's. It was the only time I had front row seats at Madison Square Garden. The warm up act was Thin Lizzy. Looking forward to it.

Read this article and you decide:

The North American leg of Jesus Christ Superstar will feature a selection of castings from the music world, most notably John Lydon, who will play the part of King Herod. “I'm here to sing with the King of the Jews, who could ask for anything more?” he said in a statement.

The performance is described as a show "reimagined for the 21st century as an arena rock spectacular," and will be the biggest ever North American arena tour of Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s creation.

Aside from the punk icon, the cast also includes *NSYNC's JC Chasez as Pontius Pilate, Destiny Child's Michelle Williams as Mary Magdalene and Incubus frontman and long time fan, Brandon Boyd, who has been cast as Judas Iscariot. "I am so thrilled to be a part of this amazing production!” said Boyd. “I grew up on Andrew Lloyd Webber's classics and never imagined I would be playing a role in one, let alone with such an incredibly diverse cast of players."

The role of Jesus will be Ben Forster, the British actor and singer who won ITV's Superstar competition in 2012. The British leg of the tour included Mel C as Mary Magdalene and Tim Minchin as Judas.

Written by Lloyd Webber when he was 21 with lyricist Tim Rice, the show began life as a concept album and a US arena tour before Jesus conquered Broadway in 1971 in the Civic Arena, Pittsburgh. "Of course JCS subsequently became a legit theatre stalwart, but I, personally, have always hankered after seeing it again in the arenas where it started," said Andrew Lloyd Webber in a statement.

Stopping by at over fifty dates, the tour kicks off in New Orleans at the Lakefront Arena on 9 June, and stops in Toronto, Chicago, Los Angeles, New York City, before culminating in Philadelphia at the Wells Fargo Arena on 17 August.

Tickets go on sale on 11 April from jesuschristsuperstar.com.

He is in the midst of a 3 week tour of Canada. His show, entitled "Dear Epson" was uproariously funny. I think he is one of the funniest, smartest and hippest stand up comedians in the world. His wry observations and scathing criticisms of pop culture are extremely funny and should appeal to most age groups. He is not a crude or vulgar comedian and uses crude language only occasionally and usually to emphasize a point.

The Place: The Coliseum, Caesar's Casino, Windsor Ontario.

The Happy Together 2013 Tour

With:

Gary Lewis and the Playboys (Without the Playboys)

Mark Lindsay (From Paul Revere and the Raiders)

Gary Puckett and The Union Gap (Without the Union Gap

Three Dog Night (Actually just Chuck Negron)

And the Headliners, The Turtles! (Actually, just Flo and Eddie)

8:50 PM, there is an announcement that there is a zero tolerance rule concerning the recording of the show. I don't think they needed to worry from the predominately blue-rinse crowd.

At 9:00PM the house lights went down and a huge roar erupted from a crowd at a different show at a different venue, probably. This crowd gave a barely audible smattering of applause and I heard someone ask if the buffet would be open after the show was done.

Gary Lewis came out, and played his hit(s) and made jokes that the tour should have been called the "We're trying to buy PlayStations for our Grandchildren Tour." The backup band was the same for all acts, the drummer looking like he'd have been more comfortable with Metallica in front of him. He looked bored.

Gary Lewis was followed by Mark Lindsay looking all of his 71 years. As he was singing the Raider's "Kicks", he'd do a straight leg kick and I was terrified he's wind up on his a** breaking a hip.

Mark Lindsay gave way to Gary Puckett. Gary opened the show by reminding us that in 1967/8 he sold more singles than the Beatles. I thought yeah, but Paul McCartney is a billionaire and you're playing Casino Windsor. It was a bit creepy listening to a 71 year old sing "Young girl, get out of my mind. My love for you is way out of line, better run, Girl, you're much too young girl." I was thinking "Gar, you should prolly drop that one from the repertoire. You sound like that Castro guy.."

Chuck Negron came out after Puckett, and to me, was the star of the show. Big shades on and a bigger Cheshire cat grin. He informed the audience that unlike the performers before him who knew all of the facts and figures of their hits, he didn't because he was ****ing wasted most of the time back then. Audible gasps from the blue-rinsers, a loud belly laugh from me. And a disdainful look from the over-perfumed cat-glass wearing ginormous hairdo lady in front of me. Meh, what can you do? Chuck did his best to rouse a dead audience with a medley (God, I was a t a show where a medley was performed. What's next, hanging out at the Zellers raving about the Salsbury steak and the great deal I got on the $4.99 running shoes? I digress...)

The headliners of the evening Flo & Eddie (formerly of the Turtles) was like watching a couple of aging drunk uncles performing for each other.

The cap of the evening was seeing Gary Lewis leaving a Mac's Milk not far from the venue wafter purchasing a deck of smokes, getting in his tan PT Cruiser and leaving. Damn. A PT Cruiser....

               And the buffet was closed...

I'm not a real big fan of Guns and Roses but I do like some of their songs. They played quite a few Guns and Roses tunes, and they sounded great. I really like the lead singer, his voice is similar to Axel Rose's except better!...Never realized what an awesome guitar player Slash is, they definitely rocked the place. I think they outplayed Def Leppard actually. Def Leppard had the place rockin' though also. I was dancing and singing along to every song, had a lot of fun, not a bad night at work for me at all...this job does have it's advantages!...the heat was horrible though. Heat index of 103!....but I lived through it.

-Allman Brothers (twice)

-Bob Dylan

-Black Crowes (just before the break up - good show)

-Everclear

-Filter

-Godsmack (a completely different experience for me! I'd been to many concerts but this one must have been my first official hard rock concert. Lots of flashing of devil horns and boobies. I did not do that. I did, however, crowd surf for the first {and possibly last} time)

-Jonny Lang (so talented, but an odd venue. It was a nice sit-down theatre and the crowd was really subdued. Not what I'm used to (especially after Godsmack!)

-Kenny Wayne Sheppard Band (Halloween night 1996, I was in full kitty cat costume - great experience)

-Little River Band

-Susan Tedeschi (this girl rocks, plain and simple)

-Willie Nelson (hmmm, so far. . . 6 times, I think? I love Willie!)

-3 Doors Down

My favorite was Los Lonely Boys. They're the best live act I've ever seen - and this list isn't all-inclusive, just all I can recall at the moment!

I haven't seen him live since around 1970 at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium.

This is going to be Great!
