Struggling to think of whole albums of the type you describe - perhaps not the sort of thing the artists in my favoured genres would do. But,unless my memory is playing demonic tricks with me again, didn't Sting have a chart hit in the late 80s with a cover of "Spread A Little Happiness"? If that's any help.
I can think of one way Sting might "spread a little happiness", but it sure doesn't involve him putting out novelty records...or any records at all for that matter.
On a cheerier note; Captain Sensible (of UK punk rock band The Damned) had a surprise chart-topping hit (in 1981, or was it '82?) with his rendition of "Happy Talk", from the musical "South Pacific". If you haven't heard it, you really should. Enough to brighten anyone's day.

^That reminded me of Francoise Hardy and Iggy Pop's duet of "I'll Be Seeing You" on Francoise's album Clair-Obscur.

James Taylor did an album of covers recently.
And Bob Dylan did an album of Christmas covers, though I'm not sure if it's out yet.

Early 80s tribal popsters Bow Wow Wow did a cracking stylised version of the '40s classic "Fools Rush In (Where Angels Fear To Tread, etc.)", the mere thought of which has teased my brain all day. I even burst into spontaneous song once or twice. No doubt, it'll distress the Sinatra fans, though:

Ha! Great rendition of that classic, B-F. The ability of today's artists to pay tribute to those writers, producers and singers of the past through their interpretations of those standards is most intriguing to me. Some of the early songs were sublimely simple and yet still touch the same places of the heart today as they did 75 years ago.
Dr. John guest performed this standard with Steve Tyrell on his album, Carpe Diem. You've Got A Friend In Me
George Michael cut an album with quite a few standards on it titled Songs from the Last Century.
