The classic (and I know a bit about this) is 'Torn Between Two Lovers' by Mary MacGregor, although my personal favourite is 'Be My Downfall by Del Amitri.

The bus is pulling out and I guess Id better go
Before I make a grave mistake and let my feelings show
And twenty miles away she waits alone for me
But when I try to picture her youre the one I see
And in another situation I could put up a fight
But you will be my downfall tonight

So the night is coming down, drowning us in blue
And it all points towards the things we know we shouldnt do
And as I look at you and I fall under your spell
Well I know I should be thinking of her lying there herself

And when faced with temptation you know a man should stand and fight
But you will be my downfall tonight

Be my downfall be my great regret be the one girl
That Ill never forget
Be my undoing be my slow road to ruin tonight

So the bus is pulling out and Im grounded here with you
And I want to say the sweet things babe Ive always wanted to
So tell me now the tail-lights have gone out of sight
Baby wont you be my downfall....
.....once again tonight.

Dodgy filming...but here's the original. My little band used to do this every time we performed....and I always ended up with a tear in the corner of my eye...

This one is pretty straighforward, I recommend the Barry Young verion, great song!

One Has My Name (The Other Has My Heart)
Jerry Wallace
Written by Eddie Dean, Lorene Dean, and Hal Blair
Wallace's version not released as a single but Barry Young put it on the Pop chart
at # 13 in 1966
Additionally, found on Country chart in 1948 by Jimmy Wakely (#1) and Eddie
Dean (#11); in 1949 by Bob Eberly at # 8; and in 1969 by Jerry Lee Lewis at #3.

One has my name, the other has my heart
With one I'll remain, that's how my heartaches start
One has brown eyes, the other's eyes are blue
To one I am tied, to the other I am true

One has my love, the other only me
But what good is love to a heart that can't be free?
So I'll go on livin' my life just the same
While one has my heart, the other has my name

<instrumental first two lines>
One has brown eyes, the other's eyes are blue
To one I am tied, to the other I am true

One has my love, the other only me
But what good is love to a heart that can't be free?
If I could live over, my life I would change
The one who has my heart would also have my name

here's a really cheesy right-to-the-point song. Written by Neil Diamond.

(Look Out) Here Comes Tomorrow
Monkees

Look out, here comes tomorrow,
That's when I'll have to choose.
How I wish I could borrow,
Someone else's shoes.

Mary, oh what a sweet girl,
Lips like strawberry pie.
Sandra, the long hair and pig tails,
Can't make up my mind.

I see all kinds of sorrow,
Wish I only loved one.
Look out, here comes tomorrow,
Oh how I wish tomorrow would never come

Told them both that I loved them,
Said it, and it was true.
But I can't have both of them
Don't know what to do.

I see all kinds of sorrow,
Wish I only loved one.
Look out, here comes tomorrow,
Oh how I wish tomorrow would never come

I see all kinds of sorrow,
Wish I only loved one.
Look out, here comes tomorrow,
Oh how I wish tomorrow would never come
four riders behind me,
three bullets left,
two hours till sunset,
just one regret...

I'm not certain, but I've always interpreted The Cure's "In Between Days" as being about this sort of thing.

Can't provide the whole lyric right now, but it's the impression I get. "And I know I was wrong when I said it was true, but there couldn't be me and be her in between, without you."
My grandad gave me some sound advice on his death-bed. "It's worth spending a bit extra for good quality speakers", he told me.

Did You Ever Have to Make Up Your Mind

Lovin' Spoonful-John Sebastian

Did you ever have to make up your mind
Pick up on one and leave the other behind
It's not often easy and not often kind
Did you ever have to make up your mind

Did you ever have to finally decide
Say yes to one and let the other one ride
There's so many changes and tears you must hide
Did you ever have to finally decide

Sometimes there's one with big blue eyes, cute as a bunny
With hair down to here, and plenty of money
And just when you think she's that one in the world
Your heart gets stolen by some mousey little girl

And then you know you'd better make up your mind...

Sometimes you really dig a girl the moment you kiss her
And then you get distracted by her older sister
When in walks her father and takes you a line
And says, "You better go home, son, and make up your mind"

And then you bet you'd better finally decide...
Show me a man with his two feet planted firmly on the ground and I'll show you a man who can't get his pants off.

"Greyhound bound for Nowhere" by Miranda Lambert

Rain on the window makes me lonely
And time keeps on passing so slowly
The old man sitting next to me is falling asleep
On a Greyhound bound for nowhere

The sun's going down on my misery
Another day gone by with broken dreams
That cell-phone I hear ringing, I keep wishing it was you
On a Greyhound bound for nowhere

That ring that you were wearing, don't mean everything
And the way that you stood staring, as you watched me roll away
She loves you and you need me, but there's some things we can't share
I’m on a Greyhound bound for nowhere

And I'm gonna find some place I can ease my mind
And try to heal my wounded pride

Rain on the window and I'm still lonely
And time keeps on passing so slowly
You're with her and I'm alone, and you're wishing I was there
I'm on a Greyhound bound for nowhere
We're all on a Greyhound bound for nowhere

The classic song with this theme must be Walk On By by Leroy Van Dyke:

If I see you tomorrow on some street in town
Pardon me if I don't say hello (hello)
I belong to another, it wouldn't look so good
To know someone I'm not supposed to know.

CHORUS
Just walk on by, wait on the corner
I love you, but we're strangers when we meet
Just walk on by, wait on the corner
I love you, but we're strangers when we meet.

In a dimly lit corner in a place outside of town
Tonight we'll try to say goodbye again (goodbye)
But I know it's not over, I'll call tomorrow night
I can't let you go, so why pretend.

How about "On the Other Hand" by Randy Travis?

On one hand I count the reasons,
I could stay with you,
And hold you close to me all night long,
So many lovers games,
I'd love to play with you,
On that hand there's no reason why it's wrong,

But on the other hand,
There's a golden band,
To remind me of someone,
Who would not understand,
On one hand I can stay,
And be your lovin' man,
Be the reason I must go,
Is on the other hand.

In your arms I feel the passion,
I thought it died,
When I looked into your eyes,
I found myself,
And when I first kissed your lips,
I felt so alive,
I've got to hand it to you girls,
You're something else.

But on the other hand,
There's a golden band,
To remind me of someone,
Who would not understand,
On one hand I can stay,
And be your lovin' man,
Be the reason I must go,
Is on the other hand.

Yeah the reason I must go,
Is on the other hand.

Might I also add that there are a lot of awesome songs in this forum. Really powerful songs in here. I applaud everyone's choices.

I smear it on your cheeks like rouge
Eyes of red and lips of blue
