I'm planning on teaching myself to play guitar over the summer, and apart from being taught in primary school a song called Ten Guitars, a lame kiwi anthem which none of you will know and I have long forgot, I have no experience with guitars and know nothing.

So I'm looking for advice on songs which are good for beginners and anything else you feel like telling me, coz as I said I know nothing. Haven't even bought a guitar yet.

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help!!
A "Standard" being a popular, swing, big band or broadway show tune written in the first half of the twentieth century which achieved wide acceptance through much radio airplay.
Just offhand, I can think of two: Rod Stewart and Linda Ronstadt. The female soloist sounded like Christine McVie; meaning it's style of song and tempo was fleetwood macky. I don't think this song went anywhere on the charts (top 25). She has a lower voice it was a ballad. I do know that I remembered the letter of her first name; R.
