  1. Hi All: Well, if you are like me and support SF through buying items through their Amazon link, then you may or may not have received a PHISHING e mail requesting you to validate your credit card information. (I will post the e-mail at the end of this message.) PHISHING is way to send you an e mail to lure you to divulge personal or credit card information. I will be honest, I clicked on the link signed in with my Amazon Password, but I was VERY suspicious about this!! The link and every thing about it looked legit. Sadly, if you logged in it asked for WAY TOO MUCH credit card information.... pin number, and the security code on the back of the card. I immediately closed out the PHISH link, went to my direct Amazon link changed my password, and deleted every credit card on file. I never get spam, so naturally I thought this was a legit e mail. My advice for anyone is to read the following PHISH mail and avoid it at all costs!! Dear Greetings from Amazon Payments. Your bank has contacted us regarding some attempts of charges from your credit card via the Amazon system. We have reasons to believe that you changed your registration information or that someone else has unauthorized access to your Amazon account Due to recent activity, including possible unauthorized listings placed on your account, we will require a second confirmation of your identity with us in order to allow us to investigate this matter further. Your account is not suspended, but if in 48 hours after you receive this message your account is not confirmed we reserve the right to suspend your Amazon registration. If you received this notice and you are not the authorized account holder, please be aware that it is in violation of Amazon policy to represent oneself as another Amazon user. Such action may also be in violation of local, national, and/or international law. Amazon is committed to assist law enforcement with any inquires related to attempts to misappropriate personal information with the intent to commit fraud or theft. Information will be provided at the request of law enforcement agencies to ensure that perpetrators are prosecuted to the full extent of the law To confirm your identity with us click here: HERE After responding to the message, we ask that you allow at least 72 hours for the case to be investigated. Emailing us before that time will result in delays. We apologize in advance for any inconvenience this may cause you and we would like to thank you for your cooperation as we review this matter. Go ahead and click on the link above. It looks like a legit Amazon.com page. But for kicks, enter any information into the email and password page. Regardless of what you enter, it will take you to the credit card verification page. Hopefully, this will make everyone more aware of this current scam. Apparently, this is a recent scam... started in early October.
  2. Yeah, KINK is awesome! I love it. Your mom obviously has good taste! Actually the people that said it went by names like pork chop and dog. One of them was used as a voice on the Grand Theft Auto game. Anyway, this was awhile ago. I will admit, I have listened to KUFO since 'the boycott' and the guys no longer work there. It is odd you mention Marconi and 94.7. I never got into his type of humor either... then or now. Did you know he was fired from 94.7 when he and his co host 'Tiny' made a joke about the Alan Berg beheading! Well, they were instantly fired. Which is really sad-for them at least, because I heard that they were going to be syndicated in Seattle before this happened. (What people see in his talents I will never know.)
  3. GUESS WHAT... I am NOT the winner! DAM... With all that money, I was going to... 1) buy Batman a batmobile (local Portland homies have to stick together), 2) develop calorie free Chocolate Chip cookies-that taste like the real thing-for Amy, 3) Give Tenacious Peaches an ALL PAID TRIP to New Zealand but somewhere along the way, I have CIA operatives take the plane down... softly like floating on an umbrella, where upon she lands.. guess where... the land of the LOST IMAGINE THAT!! Hopefully, with a Southern background TP will know how to rescue this tv show from its redundant flash backs. NUFF SAID!!! Ewww, I just discovered I have over 300 million left over in my SONGFACTORS bank. Feel free to spend the money on another Songfactor....
  4. Well, I for one vote FOR DJ's! (Do you have my current address for the Christmas card? ?) I mean if I want to listen to nothing but music, I will listen to CD's. I work 12 hour shifts, both day and night, and sometimes the only thing going on is what is on the radio. In Portland, Oregon, I listen to KINK FM RADIO which has really stood out among ALL other radio stations. The first time I ever listened to KINK, I thought, "What the Hell just happened to my radio?" It turns out, KINK went from their 'regular' playlist to a two hour program called 'Lights Out'. In short, just think of listening to U2 one minute and an uninterupted consortium of light jazz for the next TWO hours. I was impressed!! Ever since then KINK FM has continued to win me over each and everytime I listen to them. The DJ's are very intelligent... they know their music, and often give little tidbits about the band or the song just before playing it. The playlist does not consist of overplayed music! They give airplay to up and coming artists! AND, they post EVERY SINGLE SONG they play on air, on their online playlist! I am OFTEN turned onto new songs throught KINK and often write down the time so I can go to their website and see the artist and song info. OTHER radio stations in Portland, don't compare to KINK. Which is odd, because KINK does not fit my general music interest which is Hard Rock, or Country. And, beleive it or not, I have comments on each... KUFO.. Portlands Rock Station is pretty bad. I actually had this station as #1 on my radio presets. Sadly, they have given me every excuse to change... the greatest being that the DJ's made a very crude joke about a 14 year old girl that 'ran away' with her 35+ old soccer coach. I wont repeat what they said, but KUFO was the one and only station I have boycotted since then. KWJJ-A country station. Country music is an aquired taste, I will grant you that. But I love listening to MIKE AND AMY in the morning. I dont think I have ever listened to a show as creative as Mike and Amy! It is hillarious! The sad thing is, after their show ends, it is back to the replicated songlists, and majorly overplayed songs! I hope this helped you?
  5. I forgot to mention that the county website for Vancouver, Washington (just across the river from Portland) also has a web accessible database of sex offenders living in that area. Like I said, I would like to think most county websites across the US do the same thing. If you want to find out, just Google your city, state and the words 'sex offender' to find out. Example Google entry, VANCOUVER WASHINGTON SEX OFFENDER. The first hit is a LINK to the Clark County list of sex offenders. I never knew this resource was available so I just wanted to pass it along.
  6. I dont make a habit of watching the Oprah show, but on Tuesday, there was a show about Shasta Groene, and other young CHILDREN that have been kidnapped, raped, and murdered! Sadly, Shasta is not the only case. There are so many more out there that it is unbearable to think of. I thought I would create this thread to create 'awareness' among songfactors to teach your children about this criminal element that exists in our society. For example, in recent DAYS, a high school student-in my local area-was waiting for the school bus. Two men drove up next to her and asked her for directions... As she got closer to the van, one of the jumped out and tried to grab her. She fought back, and escaped the attempted abduction.... MANY other girls are not so lucky. ALSO... In yesterdays USA Today newspaper, they reported that a 21 year old man was convicted of murder after he lured an 86 year old woman to his van, tried to pull her purse from her and caused her to fall and hit her head. This woman was a holocaust survivor by the way. So, with these two scenarios I would conclude that no woman should ever offer to give directions to a man in a car! There are resources out there to track sexual predators in the US. County websites in my area have picutures and addresses of sex offenders. LINK I would like to think other counties in the US list sex predators on their website too. ?? I would also like to think that most children dont open their doors to strangers, and dont approach a vehicle to give directions. OIL is not our most precious resource... CHILDREN ARE! So if you have any advice, tips, etc on how to keep our children safe please post it. I need a sign to let me know you’re here All of these lines are being crossed over the atmosphere I need to know that things are gonna look up Cause I feel us drowning in a sea spilled from a cup When there is no place safe and no safe place to put my head When you can feel the world shake from the words I want a reason for the way things have to be When children have to play inside so they don’t disappear While private eyes solve marriage lies cause we dont talk for years And football teams are kissing queens and losing sight of having dreams In a world where all we want is only what we want untill it’s ours (I won’t give up if you don’t give up) Calling all you angels
  7. LINKED for the lazy Thanks for the heads up! I will pass this onto my friend that is a die hard Melissa fan! Thanks.
  8. After hearing about Gilligan (Bob Denver) passing away recently, I reminisced about hearing a song that a perfect fusion of the lyrics to Gilligans Island, sung to the music of "Stairway to Heaven" by Led Zepplin. The song is called, "STAIRWAY TO GILLIGAN". I first heard this song performed by a comedian at a show in Vegas almost 17 years ago. I was completely STUNNED!! I thought the comedian was a musical genius! But after searching Google I found out that "Little Roger and the Goosebumps" made this funny cover song back in the 1970's. If you have REAL player you can listen to the song HERE. I dont have REAL player. I friggin hate it with a passion, and BEWARE registering for the FREE version requires giving credit card information. There is a lot of information out there on the internet about this song. Such as... Robert Plant considered "Stairway to Gilligan" the best cover of Stairway to Heaven! Anyway, I thought this post was deserving of my 'one post per month' average. Cheers! PS If you have this song in a viable format please PM me.
  9. Does anyone know where I can get the version of this song where Alanis opens with, "I can be the NIGHTMARE of the grandest kind..." versus "I can be an A**HOLE of the grandest kind."?? I have ordered imports of this single-including the radio edit-but they all have the word "A**hole". Has anyone listened to this song? It is quite a good song! It seems to be a song from a girl with insecurities to her boyfriend that accepts her unconditionally. However, one day I was listening to this song on the radio and the dj said that this song takes on an ENTIRELY different meaning if it is sung to your higher power! And, indeed it does!
  10. This is straight from Webers Big Book of Grilling: "Kosher Salt: We only use kosher salt in this book for a couple of reasons. First, It's particularly well suited for grilling because of its size. Unlike fine grained table salt, kosher salt consists of big flakes that sit on the surface of the food. As the flame draws juices to the surface of the food, they melt these coarser flakes, resulting in great surface flavor. We also like the complex flavor of kosher salt, which comes from the other minerals in it. Because Kosher salt is less concentrated, if you need to substitute table salt, reduce the quantity by about one third." Also, on the 'Kosher' subject, there was a really old thread on SF about hot dogs. Back then Muziktyme turned everyone onto to Hebrew National Hotdogs which are Kosher. Well, over the years I have been astonishing peoples taste buds at BBQ's with these hot dogs. Last year, at the first Christmas Party we had-for the therapeutic riding center I volunteer at-I brought in a small stock pile of these hot dogs. No one knew what kind of hot dogs they were, but the director of Blue Heaven said that people were constantly commenting about how good the hot dogs were! So if you ever have a BBQ go for Kosher hot dogs! There are several brands of them here in the states. PS Contrary to what it says on the label, you DONT have to be Jewish to eat them!!
  11. You know, a few years ago I stumbled onto a huge topic on a message board about how to cook steaks. Everyone suggested this and that marinade, but the predominant overpowering suggestion is that you dont need ANY marinade, bbq sauce, or rub to cook a good steak. All you need is a good piece of meat, Kosher salt and pepper. Prior to learning this, I was always a fan of bbq sauce, and cooking my meat well done. Well, the first time I cooked a steak with only Kosher salt and pepper, I produced the best steak that I ever tasted!! And I ate it without any BBQ sauce. SO, if there is anything I can contribute to readers, it is this... 1) Start with a good selection of meat... T BONE or Porterhouse. 2) Leave at room temp for 30 minutes. 3) Cover steak with fresh ground pepper on each side. Then cover each side with Kosher salt. 4) Grill on the highest heat possible for 5-7 minutes on each side. [Charcoal grills will take longer to cook.] Anyway, I have LOVED this BASIC approach to cooking meat! In recent months I have bought Webers Big Book of Grilling. It is a nice chunky book! I love the fact that in the steak section it gives homage to the basic recipe of Kosher salt and pepper. I havent tried any thing else from the book, but I do have a nice South Western chicken recipe, that I will post later. Cheers.. -Brian
  12. I actually bought the 2 CD compilation of songs called, America: A Tribute to Heroes. I found MANY of the songs to be very somber, but I must admit I DO love the remake of Pink Floyds "Wish You Were Here" by Limp Bizkit and Johnny Rzeznik. Now, most Floyd fans think that any remake of the original is blasphemy, but I really love this song. They also remade some of the lyrics too.. So, so you think you can tell, Heaven from hell, Blue skies from pain, Can you tell a green field, From the cold steal rail a smile from a veil, Do you think you can tell? So, So do you think we can change, everybody that hates, before its too late? So proud to be free, but who can we blame? don't be ashamed, do you think we can change? How I wish, How I wish you were here, We're a world of lost souls, swimming in a fish bowl, year after year, running over the same old ground, what have we found? the same old fears, I wish you were here, We dont need, need any more pain, we just need to remain on the very same page, so much to gain, no more loosing a friend, we're loosing ourselves, we just need your help, so glad you're here So glad you're here.
  13. OK Carl, how did TIVO not pass the test??? :: :: :: What part of pausing live tv, rewinding live tv, do you not like? And that's not all, you can put your directors, actors, and other keywords into your wish list and woola, TIVO will bring up a list of programs that you can record with the touch of a button. And let's just say, for instance, you love the show The Shield staring Michael Chiklis. September rolls around and season 5 gets underway... with Tivo you can set up a Season Pass that will record every episode of The Shield with just a few clicks on the remote! Furthermore, if you have DirecTV Tivo all shows recorded are in a digital format, plus you can get into a 40 hour Tivo for around $50. If you get a standalone Tivo, then you can get 'TIVO to go' which allows you to transfer your favorite shows from Tivo to your pc. Last but not least, if you have a tv Tuner card, like the ATI All in Wonder, you can capture shows from your Tivo and burn them onto a DVD. Please, Carl, for the love of God, and all things that are good, please reconsider your view on Tivo! Sincerely; The Tivo Police PS... what was the rest of your post about? ::
  14. Google images returned close to 2000 images for "James Hetfield" alone. Lets hope you have a lot of spare time and a really fast internet connection to find the one picture you are looking for. :: If the show is on a DVD or will be re-aired on television, then another alternative is to capture a 'still' photograph using either the DVD player or tv tuner card on your pc. Nearly all media players/tuners on a pc have this feature. Unfortunately, 'still' photographs are not that great of quality. Good Luck!
  15. Am I the only one watching the mini series, Into the West? It is directed in part by Simon Wincer! As any fan of great westerns will know, Simon Wincer also directed the series Lonsome Dove! Of course, Steven Speilberg's name has more marketing value, and all you hear about is how 'Into the West is produced by Steven Speilberg'. From IMDB.com: An epic tale of two figures during the American colonization of the west, one white and the other Native American. Jacob Wheeler leaves his dull life behind to strike out west, while Loved By the Buffalo faces his destiny to try to fight a prophecy that his people will be wiped out by the settlers. Jacob marries Loved By the Buffalo's sister Thunder Heart Woman, uniting the two families while around them relations between the two races crumble.
